//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif I need a little help here. First off, i am kinda a Noob...but not completely. I have installed 5 or 6 systems, and about an equal amount of head units. I havent ran into something i didn't know about unitll just now because it is kinda an odd problem. My fiance's cars headunit had a motorized faceplate problem like i knew was inevitable, but anyways i took it out and apart to replace the power strip that went bad. When i went to remove it the wires for the rear RCA outputs pulled out of the pins going into the headunit and they are un marked. The Tech service refused to tell me their location so now i am stuck. Her system is sitting in the back of her car un-used because i have no RCA outputs. I know one of the wires are common, not sure what is negative, or positive, or how to test the output of the stereo to make sure they go in their correct location. If anyone has any help it would be greatly appreciated.

so you are saying that they plug in and don't work? I am confused.

The easiest way is to utilize an installer tool called a tone generator into the RCA outputs to figure out what each is powering in the back.

If you are confused about what each output is in the back of the radio - you will have to consult a manual for the unit.....

OR

do it the old school way.

Set balance and fade to one speaker (assuming you are trying to hook up a four channel) and then plug in RCA's until you get sound IE:

Set balance fade on the unit to front left - then choose one RCA cable and plug it into each available output slot in the source unit until you hear sound, now focus on that output from the source unit and swap RCA's until you hear the sound from the front left.

Change Balance to front right and repeat.

Is this what you are looking to do?

Actually, i will try and explain it better right now. The stereo has RCA outputs for an amp. The 3 wires go from the RCA plugs into the wiring harness into the back of the stereo. The three wires fell out of the harness and left the metal pins in the plastic plug. So basically now the two RCA plugs, have 3 wires dangling, and un-insulated from where it use to go into the headunit. I need to find out what wire goes back into each pin in the back of the unit, so i can put them back in place. I will draw a simple diagram quick here in a second.

hrmm, you might be better off searching EBAY for a new plug, you don't want to screw that up.

Unless you can get your hands on the manufacturer's manual that shows the pin outs.

What kind of HU and what model? I may actually have one laying around depending....

Here's a quick layout i did in a couple seconds. There has to be a way to test output of the headunit to the RCA's right (What kind of signal is being sent, and which is normally positive and which is normally negative on a RCA)? They want like $30 for the **** plug and they dont seem to know the first technical thing. Its a Dual XD-7600 motorized faceplate..kinda a cheaply made but my fiance likes it, and I just spent $25 for a part i replaced in it before i found this out.

sorry, all I can find is a phone number for dual support.

I suggest that you call them and explain the situation, perhaps they can tell you where they go.

Main support number(203) 699-2000

Its crazy to buy a new harness when i have 3 wires that need to be connected...and it would cost me 25-30 dollars for the thing (not to mention 14 wires to solder). The wires are red, white, and black.

The black is shared between the two plugs (the black is usally negative but when i took a multimeter to the three prongs the only setting it would register on was miliamps and only 1 prong registered anything on that). There really is only 1 wire that matters, and that is putting the ground in the correct area. The Right and left can be mixed and it wouldnt matter...but i dont want to put the ground in the pos terminal.

I have a few days ago..they have some whack tech service handle stuff called AB tech..They don't know the slightest thing about tech. They couldn't tell me because of liability, and they didnt have anything that would show what goes where, and they didnt have any products on hand they could check. I will try calling again though, maybe a diff office or something.

I dont know anything about an O-scope. I will have to look into it.

Why don't go to a shop and look for the same model and ask to take a look the the harness if they don't let you take a look at that part then buy it check it out and return the whole thing.
