Need opinions on car install idea

I saw a picture of someone do something very similar so it should be possible

In the pictures, i want to put 1 8" RE RE in that space. I have tons of MDF lying around and want to put some bass in my car to go with my components. I can move the amp over some, and have at least 10-12" height, 12-14" width, but the problem is depth. I have about 6-6.5" depth, of which ill lose about 1.5 to the MDF. The mounting depth on the RE is 4 inches, so that leaves me with about 1/2" inside the enclosure, is that enough ? Also, how much room do i need to leave infront of the enclosure for the excursion so it does not hit that bump infront of it?

Also, i can get any wood for free/cheap, is there any other thiner wood material i could use to make the Box and not take up 1.5 inches of room?

very possible, just get a shallow sub. You wont need more than an inch or two between the sub and the hatch, most small subs dont have much excursion anyways.

if the mounting depth is from the back of the ring on the sub then you only need to factor in .75". thatll leave you with over an inch. that should be good for the pole vent.

what is the minimal pole vent i could use and have it still sound good and not worry about any problems it may cause?

So lets say to be realisitic i have 6.25 inches to work with. If i design the box to be 5.75 inches including MDF deep, that will leave me 1" inside the enclosure for pole vent, and .5 inches infront of the enclosure for excursion, does that sound good?

You could use 1/2 inch mdf no problem to make up a little bit more...
