Need new sub suggestions....RE's blew already

I bet the box was all wrong and the amp was clipping to high hell and back to try and produce the power you wanted LOL.

Box is sealed and 4 cubic feet internal after bracing and woofer displacement are taken into cosideration. It's made of 1" HDF with fiberglassed seams. Approximately, and I am doing this off the top of my head, 46" wide, 10" deep at top, 18" deep at bottom, and 22" tall with 3" of clearance for subs as they are down-firing. Wrapped in vinyl that matches leather (not that this matters really).

Does that sound all wrong? I can definitely say down-firing sucks, but other then that, box seems good to me.

Were u running the GP 3k Pro @ 1ohm to the SEs?? If so them i'm thoroughly surprised they lasted that long. I wouldn't put anymore than 900 watts to them daily.

Look into 2 RE SXs and be a little light with the gains. Set em so they are getting like 1200 watts to each and you'll love them. For the price SXs are bada*s woofers. Have run multiple SXs in my past and all have been incredible.

What do you think of 4 SE12's in a ported enclosure vs. the 2 SX15's in sealed?

Sick car btw:cool:

Thanks, but its up for sale //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif:crying: as we speak.

I wouldn't run SXs sealed at all, they are great ported woofers. Why not 2 15" SXs ported?? Shouldn't be any bigger of a box than the SEs would be.

SX15's are recommened to have ported 3-4 cu.ft. each...I have both SE's in 4 cu.ft. now.

So how would u be able to do 4 12" SEs ported then?? You're gonna need at least 1.75-2ft3 at the bare minimum ported per sub.

I used to run my Sx15 in 3.5ft3 @ 34hz w/ 45^2 of port or so and it loved it. Ran a few other box sizes and none were louder or had the overall range as this one.

I have four se's. I broke my lock and now I'm having trouble with my trunk poping up when I drive even though I fixed the lock. Havent figured out why its doing that yet. I have also had a few setups and all I can say is 4 of them are very loud. The 2 sx 15's and the 4 se 12's shoud be pretty close to each other in loudness, but the 12's will dissipate the power better. I would go with the four 12's, but im biased.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Might have something to do with it being in the trunk of a 15yr old Crown Vic?? Jk, but really it might. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

The 4 SE 12s ported will definitely be pretty damn close to 2 15" SXs ported off the same power.

I lined my entire trunk with sound deadner and filled the lid with expandable foam. That trunk lid is heavy as sh**. No matter what I do it seems like my trunk is about to pop off. Makes me wish I had an SUV. It never budged or rattled even a little with my other setups. I dont think the age of the car has anything to do with it. Do you know that all of your words are bold?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

I thought you meant the SX's would take the same air space as what I currently have. But I agree, the 4 12's vs. the 2 15's should be about the same...all boils down to whether or not I want to lose my 3rd row seats.

Yea i know they're bold' date=' i mean it to be that way. People tend to love my bold typing haha.

Also don't think that SUV are any better than trunks when it comes to breaking... I had to weld the latch once and replace it another time in the 3+ years i've had systems in my expo. Its been taking 145+ for over 3 years now and its been deadened with a ton of second skin pro. Does help a good amount, but its gonna flex no matter what.[/b']

I had 4 12" MTX's on a MTX2300 back in the day in a '96 Mustang and it was pretty loud. Then had 3 JL 12W3's off an Xtant X1001 in a '99 Cobra and that sounded incredible and louder then the four, but it was a much better overall system. I had 2 15" Kicker Comps in my first car and thought that I wanted that again, so I went with the SE15's, but I am thinking I probably like the 12's better overall.

How often do u have people back there?? I'm guessing you rarely have over 5-6 people in your vehicle on an often basis. Just take em out and put a nice big system back their, u definitely won't regret it.
