i have an old panasonic h/u right now but i want to get a new one but am hesitant because i listen to mp3 cd's mostly and love the fact that my remote has numbers on it so it is much easier to navigate through the 100+ songs......any suggestions on a nice hu with this feature for $300- $400??

If thats the main feature youre looking for, you can get one for WAY less than $300-$400.

If you want quite a few more features, look into the Pioneer 880prs.

that looks nice.....i like the display on the Deh-p860mp a lil more though and the features seem similar.....any idea how they compare?......i only see em refurbished on ebay though.....think its still worth it??

that looks nice as well.....and u say u liked it better than the Deh-p860mp??.......care to elaborate why??.......were u able to fine tune ur music as much as u were with the pioneer?

The pioneer had more settings to fine tune your music, but the biggest problem I had with the pioneer is you COULD NOT see it during the day. At night it was a nice one to have but during the day you couldnt see nothing and I didnt like the remote. Other then that it was a great hu as well. But I liked the panasonic because of the looks, you are able to see it better during the day, and the remote is just simple pretty much the same remote you would have right now.

Another choice would be, I have a sony hu that retails over 1k that has a built in 10 gig hd in it with a ton of options. I bought it on ebay, it came to me with no harness I bought one of them for $75 and then hooked it up. It doesnt work, sony has a flat rate repair of 125 shipped for that hu and many others. I have a few hus and dont want to bother fixing it because I am done with car audio. If interested in something like that shoot me a pm I will let it go for half of what I paid for it for $250

For 300-400, you could buy a Riocar mp3 player with between 20gb and 60gb (upgradeable up to 200gb) of storage that destroys anything a deck with mp3 cd's can do -- something to consider if you have a double din slot...live on the fly playlist management is awesome. It's got basic settings re: tone adjustment and has front/rear outputs but if you've got a nice deck that you use to EQ or crossover your signals that has an aux in i'd advise just passing into the aux in on your deck. I do this with my CD8454 and thus have all abilities my eclipse deck has PLUS all the abilities the mp3 player has.

I had the 860, now have the 880.

Id go with the 880 if I had to do it all over again- more features. The 16 band left and right equalizer is just a kick *** feature. Aesthetically, I like the looks better- it has more of a "solid" look and feel to it.

Plus, with an 860, you run the risk of a ground trace problem.

Id go with the 880 if I were you, no doubt about it.
