Installing HU in '87 chevy PU help.

I am going to be helping out a friend of mine install a stereo in his PU. It is an '87 Chevy PU that uses the old knob style radio.

Can any of you installers out there give me some tips on fitting a newer style HU in its place?

I don't have any pictures to show of the dash and it really wouldn't matter to show his anyway. Its all torn apart. He just got it painted inside and out.

take the radio cage and use it to mark the plastic dash bezel. then take that and cut out the hole. be careful cause you have to be pretty precise. then once that is cut out put it back in place and mark the metal that is behind it. remove the bezel again and cut the metal. you dont have to cut it completely out just make long slits on the top and bottom horizontally and bend it back into the dash out of the way.

I wasnt sure on the bezel part. I dont have it in front of me and have never done one before.
