My JL XR finally broke. By broke, I mean the tinsel wire came off on one of the connections connected to the speaker from its terminal. TIME FOR A NEW ONE! >//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
Now, I'm looking for a reliable speaker, with good sound quality. My budget is $500-600, but I would like to be lower than that, but I am willing to spend that much to be happy. I was originally just going to purchase JL's C5 6.5 or their 5x7(I'm working with Mazda3 2010), but on a couple of reviews of JL's site said that a tinsel broke on theirs for the C5 review and I'm thinking this might be a reliability issue of JL's which is why I'm putting emphasis on "reliable." I am still willing to purchase the C5s, but I'm reluctant.
What I'm looking for in my replacements is:
75W RMS to match my 300/4v3. I'm using all 4 channels, bridging is out of the question.
5x7 preferred to match the spacers I've already made, or 6.5.
Won't break due to build quality.
Missing sharp highs like what those Infinity speakers put out. That real sharp sound on the high frequency spectrum. I don't like those real sharp highs.
Sound quality is what my build is.
$600 total or less in price.
Not Audison Voce. This is because their baskets will require me to grind away at my door and I don't feel comfortable doing that for two reasons: 1. No experience with a grinder. 2. Damaging my car and lowering safety. I'd be all over the Voces if that weren't the case.
Now, I will still listen to the speakers before purchase, of course. What I'm looking for here is narrowing my search instead of wasting my gas on the hunt. I listen to rock like The Killers, Arctic Monkeys, the Strokes, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Black Keys, to Adele and Gnarls Barkley, to Rap and Hip Hop.
Thank you in advance!
