Ok well I thought I killed my CPU, but then as a last ditch effort, I tried a different case speaker, thinking maybe I wasnt getting beeps because mine was dead. Well, I was right about that. The beep code I am getting is not in the manual though. To me, it sounds like 3 long, then a slight pause, then 6 long and one short. Anyone know what this could mean? The motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-EG31M-S2.

Do this. Pull out everything except for cpu and power. Tell me the sequence. Add memory, Post the sequence, Add video (unless its internet), post the sequence. Add in each component and note whether the sequence has changed or not. That'll help determine what it is.

Also, that POST sequence is pretty strange. No one will know that off the top of their head.

This is basically what I did. The only beep code I got was 3 long-pause-6 long and a short. This was with just the cpu, and then every combination of components. None of the components gave me a different sequence. I tried just the motherboard with the components and no processor, and I got no beep at all. I dont know if it just doesnt beep without a cpu or what? I thought since it is the board that tells you the error, the cpu wouldnt need to be there to get beeps.

holy god im not keeping up with any of this. bump for u guys for being smart
Lol, yeah its confusing the hell out of me, too. I think its my cpu but I just got butt-***** by buy.com because they charged me twice for an item, so it overdrew my bank account. So I am broke at the moment so its hard to get a new cpu.

if you have a spare mouse, or keyboard, try using those and re-start the computer... one of those components could be bad... i'd try that before you start taking hardware outta the comp.
I am not using any mouse or keyboard while troubleshooting, just the main components.

Wow, I feel stupid. Turns out it wasnt the CPU at all. I had 5 dead sticks of RAM, and 2 incompatible sticks //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif I tossed in a stick from a buddys rig and it fired up.
