Built by the AES group at Michigan Tech. It uses 18 15" mid range drivers, 6 18" Electrovoice 180Bs, and 4 horn tweeters. It is powered by up to 20,000 Watts.

ive seen something like that before. They made a full wave trannsmission line box for like 15 subs.

They also had a bunch of other cool Snow boxes..

Winter Carnival up at Tech, huge festival thing. They make that every year to play music during the all nighter, which is where people stay up all night building snow statues. A lot of people dance in front of the statue every year while drunk, it's a lot of fun.

It is extremely loud, has been heard multiple miles away.

No, it actually sounds quite good, I mean, it's not a high end home stereo or anything, but it sounds pretty good.

Yup, an annual thing. Winter Carnival has been going on since the 1920s, the AES statute is maybe 10 years old.

Why would it sound bad?

Too many mids, vs highs and lows. Speakers too far apart, will create phasing problems. Requiring harsh eq'ing to flaten the sound to be reasonable. 15's aren't the flattest mids either.

In general it's designed to look cool and get loud.
