I had a cold/ sinus infection, and the doc gave me Cefuroxime and it turns out that im kinda allergic to it...

The right back part of my upper palate in my mouth is swollen and my tounge,(also back right is swollen)

so im about to take a zyrtec since its an antihistamine, but it's 2 months expired so i dono how that will turn out,

ANY Serious SuGGETIONS?

You should probably call your doctor or a medical professional.. soon... Or go down to the hospital.

If you are seriously allergic to it, your tongue may continue to swell. If it does, you may end up choking on it and suffocation by your own tongue is no fun way to die..

certain chemicals are not 100% stable and break down over time.

recently expired meds will not hurt,, but for allergic reactions you need more advice than this... CALL THE ER!!!!!

The Zyrtec will be fine, just might have lost a slight amount of its efficacy like others have said. I'm guessing your allergic to penicillin? bout 5-10% of people allergic to penicillins will also be allergic to cephalosporin antibiotics like Cefuroxime. Definitely take the Zyrtec and get to a doctor immediately if you feel its not working.

Sorry for not replying, but i went to the Er last night at 11:45 and stayed for 3 hours then came home and slept most of today.

But they gave me a pretty awesome IV cocktail of Benadryl and steroids with a salene kicker

But luckily, it didn't get bad enough to block my airway, just make it hard to chew, talk, spit, and basically masticate altogether...

Thanks anyways! But its much better now.

... i could have seen the headline "kid sufficates in home at computer from alergic reaction and swollen tounge with mouse on "post" " could have been epic...
