Need installation help...Amp in protect mode

So i installed a system for a buddy of mine. Its a bazooka amp that i bought from someone on here. We set everything up except the ground was not proper. So i left it like that just to make sure everything works. It played no more than one minute. It was getting late so i told my friend we will finish it the next day i disconnected the power from the battery and left it like that. Here is the problem

He decides to have his dad do the ground because his dad does car audio. Well my friend calls me and said the amp went into protect after a couple of hours. He brings it by and its a crappy ground. still paint and all and a little screw :\. So being it 1:00am. I pulled fuses,checked RCA's,power wire. all seems fine except the amp is still in protect with the car off. So right now i'm kind of lost. I am going to redo the ground and double check the remote wire.

double check the remote and power and if you havent already, make dam sure the ground is to a frame and metal to metal.

If the power is not right it can go into protect and if the remote is grounded it can do the same. check fuses and make sure your not pinching or grounding out the RCA's

What do you mean in protect with the car off?

Check the amps guts, super easy on that amp. Was perfect, possibly fried something running it so long with barely any ground?

Check sub wiring also of course, you never know

Oh i trust you sold me a good amp. Because i had it working and it was beating pretty well for the minute i had it going. Its just the guy i guess didnt have patience and decided to take it upon himself to "fix" it. Now i have to check EVERYTHING....FUHHHHH

Nope no smoke....Every fuse is still intact as well. It's odd.

well a known shitty ground should be fixed. then we can move on with the investigation.
