Need help with the '71 Chevelle. 6.5 passive comps and amp?

Been reading a ton on here and trying to figure out what the hell I'm gonna do for a stereo in my Chevelle project car. I was originally gonna stick with stock mounting, but that limits speaker selection. So I decided I can run a set of 6.5 passive comps in the kick panel and run a sub out back. I listen to all types of music and can spend about $600 total including amp. If I need to split it up I would do front stage first and sub/s later. I have a Alpine CDE-102 HU for now, until I build a carputer down the road.

I've been looking at:

Rainbow SLC Kick or CMX (pushing budget)

ID CTX65CS

BostonPro60

Some CDT's

Alpine PDX-2.150 for fronts

I have a single 12" in my truck now and it seems loud enough. What size sub do you think I need for the Chevelle? Single or dual?

Orlando area.

Just got it running this past October. Working on finishing up the interior and starting paint and body soon. Doing a 12 hour drive to a car show in the beginning of June so it increased the need for tunes and running out of time fast.

Been a long project if you're interested: http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/conversions-hybrids/510709-71-chevelle-ls1-t56-progress.html

I would add the Hertz HSK-165 and Pioneer PRS720's to your list of comps. to look at also. Either can be had for around $225 or maybe a little cheaper BNIB.

AMP I would see if someone has a Aura MR4150 or another 4 channel.

Then you can power the comps. of the 2 front channels and bridge channels 4&5 on a sub. It will save you some money and work fine, although most 4 channel amps will only run 4ohm bridged so may limit you sub option a little bit to DVC 2ohm or single 4ohm coil.

So you could easily do this for your budget.

Comps-250

Amp-150-200

Then spend the rest on install supplies and a little sound deadener.

I just got done laying a layer of Damplifier Pro throughout the car. I will need to look into whether or not I will need to build enclosures for the 6.5's.

Thanks for the input. Keep it coming.

I also need to figure out what sub setup, but I am a little more familiar with that. Probably going to run a single 12.

Put some OverKill pro on top of that....
Is it worth the extra money for the Luxury Liner? I was not trying to add a ton of weight to the car. Luxury Liner is 10# per sheet vs the Overkill Pro 3.5#.

Will the Overkill make a big difference?

Yea I used it in my doors as Ant said the LLP was to heavy.. I used LLP also but the OKP is good stuff. Will def keep the road noise down much more the Damp Pro. My doors are 1000x better since adding the OKP as far as keeping road noise out. I would give Ant a call and talk to him also. Hes a good dude and will help you make the right decision.
