yes

could it be that i have two different 0 g's? i have a red one thats all copper which is my pos. then i have another on the neg. thats kinda silverish, and alot beefier.

If amp is shutting off due to heat its gonna be due to low voltage, bad ground, clipping, or you need to give it more room to breath or amp is defective

np goodluck also if u can run a ground from the front batt

To give some space to get a bit of air take 2 strips of wood for now 1in wide? or 1 1/2? and approx as long as the amp from foot to foot to get the amp off of the surface... will help tramendously!!! Mono amps run hot! You may want to leave your loud button off and boost down at 1/2 will help also. But get that elevated to disapate the heat is what I always do..You may want to invest in a fan also??

Set your gain based on your output voltage from your speaker terminals (AC voltage). Turn up the volume on your head unit 1 number before max volume. This is usually the loudest a head unit can go before clipping. Now adjust your gain until you get the correct voltage on your speaker terminals using a 50-60hz test tone. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

thanks, not sure what it was that helped it but i let it cool off,i relocated my ground, cut the speaker wire the shortest i could without having problems, set my gain with the bass remote all the way up then adjusted it to where it sounds good, then i jammed out for like 30 min. and it got hot but not as bad.thanks everybody.and yea i did search before i posted

I am happy to hear that you have gotten it to work better.I would still think about some type of fan to keep it running cooler...some decent Stinger fans are approx 30.00 shipped, and also elevate the amp as well.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/imo.gif.3a57bcc70a4835dc53e86ffae1a0b041.gif

that does sound like a good thing to get but i thing i need a new batt first.my lights dim like crazy, what is/was also making my amp run hot.i have my gains set to where the lights just barely dim, but it still sounds underpowered.any suggestions?.already have the big 3 and the battery i have is an optimum yellow top.

Well.. maybe a new battery will work??Not 100% positive it will solve the issue, but is a good start.Wouldnt hurt to start looking for a high amp alternator as well??IMO- the yellow top is a deep cycle, and takes longer to charge back up than a reg battery??
