need help with digital designs recone

i'm getting my 9518 all cleaned up in preparation for the recone, and i'm having a hell of a time getting the last of the spider off. this is what i have right now, its wet with paint stripper gel ATM, will be the third time i've coated/scraped it with a wire brush.

i haven't gotten the recone kit yet, will it come with the 8 gauge also, or will i be reusing the wire thats in there now?

I use a chisel and a hammer to pry up the spider ring off of the basket. The spider itself is not glued down to the basket, the spider is glued to a plastic ring and THAT is glued down to the basket.

The recone will come with new 8 gauge.

I just did 2 HDC's and brake cleaner worked GREAT on loosening up the glue. Also a die grinder or Dremel with sanding discs to get it down to bare metal, plus a metal putty knife sharpened up to get the last of the glue off. SUCKS *** cleaning them up!!!

I just chiseled down from the top till I hit the basket then started going at it from an angle, prying up a little area at a time.

got it off, thanks. im also having a hard time getting the last of the glue off the top of the composite dustcap. does it even need to come off, or can i just put new glue over the top of it?

I lightly bend the edges when re using the CF dust caps. Just enough to let the ca flake up and be pealed off.

sure, but why not put in an hour or twos work to save a few bucks? it's staying an 18.

Where are you getting DD recones and what do they cost? I have a 9512 and a couple 9515's I want to recone.

from dd, call them up you can deffinatly recone yours...

side grinder works well. it roughs up the basket so that the ca bonds very good.
