Iv been wanting to upgrade for awhile now. I love extreme bass but im not into spl.... I was thinking about a jl w7 but alot of people say there over rated. So i was wondering what you guys would recommend for a 2004 grand prix gt. I want as loud as possible but as clear and sharp hits as possible.

Inb4 sales pitch!

OP, what's your budget, how much power do you have, and how much space do you want to invest in a box?

.

What's going to be most important is having a professional box built, from there depending on what you want to do there's plenty of alternate options to W7.... though if you can score W7 used for

Im starting from scratch with my new system the whole trunk is up for grabs i just can go into the back seat untill i get another car lol but price wise i would like to stay like in 800-1000 range i know for what i want is gonna cost

The lowest i found around me is 2 in a enclosure for 800...or i know a guy that can get them for 400 but there refurbish...

the 2500 series in the dd range and above all seem to be able to handle more than rated pwr when set up correctly. they sound bloody good doing it too in the correct enclosure.

800-1000 for subs only or for the whole setup + installation/wiring/sub enclosure?
800-1000 for sub/subs and amp and maybe enclosure if possible. Biggest and clearest bang for my buck is what im looking for i want clean bass not spl

pioneer PRS yellow 12" sound really nice ported (more a sq sorta sub but can get a decent amount of volume)

your best bet is to listen to a few different setups and sub, then decide from there

first step to clean sounding bass is clean power, then the enclosure/install, then the quality of the sub. Spend more money on a proper install and box before you dump it on W7s or w/e pricey subs people gonna list out. If you do, you'll get stuck with a budget that can only afford a piece of ***** amp and a pre-fabricated enclosure and copper clad aluminum wiring....

i'd say keep your power around 600 rms a sub and do 2 12s in a properly designed enclosure with a quality amp that can be strapable if you plan on going even bigger later on when you have the money for it since with 2k rms and over, your going to have to spend money on a big battery bank, and a high output alt. keeping it under 1.5k you'll only need the big 3 upgrade and maybe a good agm battery under the hood.

Depends on what you want. If you buy used. You can get better subs for he money , but there's always risk when buying used. If you buy new there are warranties in place So with that being said. I'd prolly go with 2. 12s and around 2000 rms as far as sq that's loud look at tantric md subs also look at ascendant chaos fi even ssa subs But like I said if you buy new. You will prolly need more $$$ to get subs box amp and wires. A break down for you would be $200 per sub $300 + for the amp. Then $175+ for a box if someone builds and ships it to you. And $60-$100 for wires. This puts you just about $1050 just to give you an idea
