i have one infinity kappa perfect 12d VQ (dual voice coil) sub and i was wondering what my best bet for powering it would be:

specs:

rms: 75-400 watts

peak: 1600 watts

impedance: dual 4ohms

any help is greatly appreciated, thanks //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Panasonic

- with servo technology, 700 watts RMS into 2 ohms... I have seen them listed on ebay as low as $120. One of the best bang for the buck amps I have seen lately.

If you really want to save bucks, profileusa.com - click "store" - they have a sub amp, biggest one on the page, I think it's the first one at the top of the page... 600 watts for $80.

i was under the impression i should run a 2-channel bridged amp instead of mono, any thoughts/opinions

Guys - nice amps trying to get sold notwithstanding...

Will the Perfect VQ take that much over rated wattage?

I don't have any experience with them myself so I just don't know.

The RMS rating is 400w...not 7 or 800 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

from all the reviews ive read its said the sub can take more than the peak power and rms... would this amp be sufficient?:

dual 4 ohms btw mike

well i think this sub is a single 4 ohm and if so 500 rms will not be to much.......
Wanna know what I think?

I think, since it is included in the opening post, that this sub is a DVC 4 Ohm model. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

Never try to send more than 1,600w to that sub. Or if you do get it on video and let us see it at least...

Here is my thought, theory. Those speakers are 80w rms. Half of that is 40w rms. Add the 40 to the 80 and you get 120w. Get an amp that is 120w...

well, thats kind of an open ended question....., you can do 2500rms@1ohm, or you can do a pair of 1k-1200rms@2ohms. just have to know the amp...
