need help with box design

Looks like you'll have right around 2.45ft^3 after sub displacement. Go with that and see how you like it. You can always glue 2x4's or something inside the box to take up more space if you feel like the response is too bottom-heavy.

 
so it doesnt really matter how much volume it has? it wont wreak the sub or anything?
The size of the box will affect the response curve and transient response(how well it can replay quick musical passages). A larger box will also slightly lower the mechanical power handling of the sub, ie: it will take less power to reach mechanical limits.
