need help wit paintin valve cover

ok im gonna paint my valve cover on my daily driver (97 altima) and i wanna no the best way to do it i never painted any parts from an engine so how do i go about it to i have to primmer ect......

take off, clean really good. and paint with some high temp paint.

NA I NO THERES MORE TO IT THAN THAT I HAVE IT OFF ALREADY AND IF U JUST CLEANED IT AND PAINTED IT WOULD LOOK LIKE SHIT THATS LIKE SAYING JUST CLEAN THE CAR AND PAINT IT WILL TURN OUT LIKE CRAP THANKS THOUGH

u have to sand it and primmer it that paint than clear if u want it to last and not chipped everyone over at smd said the same thing i would never just clean something than paint it thats just like saying when i paint cars i should just clean it and paint it

So you ask for help then tell them they're wrong?

I just cleaned and sprayed mine with high temp paint from a rattle can.

It's not like painting a car.. it's a valve cover. Thing's don't hit it, it doesn't go through elements, etc. It'll be fine.

Why would you go through all that trouble? Just as AZ said a good cleaning and possibly a very very very light sanding then high temp paint.

cause i seen people just clean and paint and i didnt like the look of it when i paint i do it right just never painted engine parts i painted cars before and i figured it would be the same and it is

Paint flakes when you F it up.

You really want to do it, take it off, media blast it, shoot primer, color, clear or powder coat it or whatever type of coating you desire.
