Need Help Removing In Dash Kit

Ok, so I'm really at novice, at car installations, but wanting to replace mine, without spending $100, I attempted, after I figured its color-coded anyways. And there is already an aftermarket in there, so its a simple replace. Complete success, except I can't figure out for the life of my how to remove the in dash kit from the old cd player, this is the only thing thats stopping me...

Here are a few pics, and no metal prong are sticking out, which I figured would be stopping the plastic from slidding off..

There should be head unit removal keys that will allow the head unit to slide out of the smaller gray piece that's attached to the black piece.

Ok, when I bought the new CD Player, it came with two metal sticks, which I assume is what you mean...now how exactly do I use these...

Yes, that's it. On the front, there should be little slots on both the right and left hand side. They keys should slide in there. Apply a small amount of outward pressure, and pull outwards. The headunit should slide out (might put up a bit of a struggle).

There's no slots...if there is, I'm overlooking them...

older alpine i assume pop the plastic trim ring off u will see where it hooks on the left and right just push the pin to the center

You see all those little slits at the top on the cage? Those are what are keeping the dash kit in. They're at the top and bottom of the cage.

Yeah, that's what I'm think too looking at the pics...pretty common and if even one is sticking up even a little bit, the sucker will not budge. I actually ignore those usually and bend up the three larger tabs on the top and bottom. That way it is easier to remove.
