use spybot.. if it can't do it post a HiJackThis log... we need to start a thread for this.

I actually had that on there but didnt bother to save a log. I believe it has an option where it tries to repair registry entries, but it didn't seem to be able to get rid of the malicious ones in question, as they just kept reappearing. My buddy just reformatted anyway, so oh well. Right now our issue is getting XP to detect his secondary ata sata drive. I'm thinking there might be a setting we have to mess around with in his phoenix bios to get the pc to see it?

ok, a system restore point seems to have fixed it. these system restore disks are worthless!!! they don't even work. u put em in, the drive starts running ( u can hear it and feel it) and then it stops. anybody got any help for this??

I have a feeling how you got it, now to delete it is another story. I have trend micro virus ftw. My bro got it on the computer, go to add/remove programs delete it. It will probably say something like cannot delete all of selected files but it should mention the file name and its location go and manually delete it, you can't delete it all the first go, but delete the auto-run part of it I think so it doesn't start up when you log on. then restart and go and delete the rest. Hope this helps. I reparied my computer at like 5 in the morning after a party, but I am pretty sure most of what I said is correct.
