Need help picking speakers. Please Help.

I have a 2000 Camry.

I have a Soundstream TRA880.5 (5 Channel Amp)

RMS @ 4 Ohms 60x4+200x1

RMS @ 2 Ohms 120x4+400x1

My headunit is a Pioneer DEH-5900IB

I need to get 4 Speakers.

I want to get components up front. (6.5 is stock, i think i would like to get 6.5's)

And possibly components in the rear? (6x9 is stock, i think i would like to buy an adapter and put in 6.5's)

I have about $400-500 to spend. I do not mind shopping on eBay.

What should I get (I plan on running the speakers at 2 Ohms so that I can get about 120RMS to each speaker.)

Please help me out.

If you run two sets of components you will be at 4 -ohm... unless you can find 2-ohm component speakers... like infinity.

Precision Power 356cs are the best bang for the buck in that price range I see right now.

I say just run comps up front and coaxials in the rear!!

Then maybe use 4chs for your comps, one for a sub, and then just run the rears off the HU? Just an idea

Zt = (Za x Zb) / (Za + Zb)

Zt = (4 x 4) / (4 + 4)

Zt = 16 / 8

Zt = 2 ohms

I would love to use up all 480 watts I have to the four speakers.

If you are talking about bridging the 4-satellite channels of the amp down to two channels, each side of the amp will "see" half of the total ohm load it's connected to. So, if you have two-4-ohm speakers/component sets hooked up to a bridged channel, your amp will be running at 1-ohm. Are the satellite channels 1-ohm stable (probably not)? Better get this straight before you buy.

Sorry, I am new at this.

I am going to be buying four speakers (four ohms each) two for the front two for the back.

I thought I could bridge two channels and connect that to two speakers run in parallel. If I am not mistaken putting two 4ohm speakers in parallel would result in a total 2ohms. I would then get 120 (@2ohms) plus 120 (@2ohms) which would equal 240 watts (@2ohms) to be split by the two speakers. I would then repeat this process with my other two channels for my other two speakers.

By the way the speakers I ended up ordering are A/D/S 336IM

That amp cannot do 2 ohm when bridged, only 4 ohm.

Image dynamics has some 2 ohm comps you can put in the front and just some good coax in the rears. The front sound stage is what is most imprortant for a great sounding system.

Well, since you already bought the speakers, the best thing to do is to bridge the amp, for 240w x 2 @ 4 ohms, for the 2 front speakers, and get another 2 channel amp with similar power for the 2 rear speakers.

I should have asked questions prior to buying. I just go so excited. I see my mistake now.

Should I just run each speaker independently at 60watts rms each at 4 ohms [the speakers information states it needs a minimum of 20 watts rms and a max of 150rms], how would it sound?

Or should I really just try and sell the speakers?

Actually, bridge your amp for 240w x 2, and run those ads speakers off that. The manual says it's rated for 150w rms, so just ease back a little on the gains, and you should be fine. You should be able to give them at least 200w if you set the high pass on your amp to about 90 Hz. You'll need a subwoofer to play the frequencies below 90 Hz.

Also, those two speakers should be plenty to fill your car with all the volume you need. There's most likely no need for rear speakers. Give it a try, you have nothing to lose! Most people on here prefer a good strong front soundstage with no rear speakers at all (except a subwoofer).
