Need help installing Kenwood cd player and Sirius Tuner

I have never installed anything before and I would like to pull out my old JVC deck and put in my new Kenwood.

1. What is the easiest way to get out the old one and what should I use?

2. Will I just be plugging wires into the new deck or what will I have to do once I get the old one off?

3. How do I go about hooking the Sirius tuner up to the new deck?

I have a 2000 Chevy Silverado

SIR-KEN1 Tuner

Kenwood KDC-328

Thank you for your help!

1. installdr.com look up your truck, it will give pictures of how to take your radio out. pretty much pull off the hole front dash part, just snaps out. unbolt the radio kit, should be 4 bolts. take out. if you have the JVC keys to take the deck out of the metal shroud. use em to get the deck out. take the metal shroud out also, install the new deck same as the old one.

2. sence you have an after market deck in there. you should have the harness for your truck in there. just cut off the JVC wires, and then splice in the new wires for the kenwood. just match the colors up.

3. the Sirius tuner is a plug and play for your kenwood. there will be a cable to plug from the tuner in to the deck. also a power and ground, tap the sirius tuner power wire (usualy orange) to a switched power, usualy go to the RED (switched power) wire from your kenwood. stash the tuner box in the dash, some where behind the radio, or under the dash below the steering wheel. as for the antenna take out your break light, on top of the roof. place the magnetic antenna on top of the roof in the middle near the light. you should find a hole to run the wire through (when you take the light out. it will come out the back of the head liner. just run it on the top side of the head liner, the rubber door sills can come off easy to have the head liner come down to run the wire. i usualy run on the driver side. run to front plug in to the tuner box. and your set. use the source button on the deck to switch to your sirius radio.

hope this helps. any questions just give me a pm

Get yourself some JVC keys (came with the radio, if not, head down to a shop or a local CC and see if they'll give you a set). Replace the JVC cage with the Kenwood. Depending on how the JVC was installed, you can either cut the JVC harness and match the Kenwood color to color and splice them, or use the Metra harnesses if it was installed with those (it'll be a 80-1858 Chevy plug and a JV-1680 JVC plug), and swap the JVC plug for a Kenwood.

For the Sirius tuner, like azbass said, tap into radio's accessory wire (red) for power and ground (black) for ground.

Personally, I install the antenna's right above the windshield and run the wire down the weatherstripping and inside the car. For your truck, I'd see if you can mount the Sirius module in the glovebox. Should be able to snake the power/ground behind the radio with no problems in that truck, and you can run the antenna down the passenger side weatherstripping and into the truck by popping out the panel on the side of the dashboard where the doorjam is. Should be able to get the antenna wire from there into the glovebox with no problems.
