Hi, still new here... basically new to any audio upgrades as well and I've done somewhat research on what I can and I've decided on this type of set up and I would like to know what you guys think about it.

First off I like to play all type of Rock music from the soft indie rock to hard death metal for reference. Also would a Ported box or Sealed box be better for the quick double bass drums that the Sub will need to play sound better?

Sub: 1 Kicker S10L7:

Details:

* 10" subwoofer with dual 2-ohm voice coils

* SoloKon aluminum-treated composite cone with Santoprene surround

* cast-aluminum basket

* power range: 90-600 RMS watts (300 watts per voice coil)

* peak power: 1,200 watts

* frequency response: 24-100 Hz

* sensitivity: 86.1 dB

* mounting depth: 6-3/16"

* sealed box volume: 0.66-1.0 cubic feet

* ported box volume: 1.25-2.25 cu. ft.

Amp: Kicker ZX650.4

Details:

* 4-channel car amplifier

* 120 watts RMS x 4 at 4 ohms (170 watts RMS x 4 at 2 ohms)

* 325 watts RMS x 2 in bridged mode (4-ohm stable in bridged mode)

* variable high- and low-pass filters (50-200 Hz, 12 dB per octave)

* variable bass boost (0-18 dB at 40 Hz)

* top-mounted controls

* CEA-2006 compliant

* speaker- and preamp-level inputs

* fuse rating: 40A x 2

* 4-gauge power and ground leads and an 80-amp fuse recommended — wiring and hardware not included with amplifier

* 20"W x 2-1/8"H x 9-9/16"D

Components: Kicker RS-Series 6 1/2" Component Speakers (RS65.2)

Details:

*RMS power handling (watts) 100

*Frequency response (kHz) 40Hz - 21kHz

*Peak power handling (watts) 200

*Recommended amp wattage range 5 - 100 Watts

*Peak power range (watts) 150-249

*Directional tweeter - No

Head Unit: (hopefully Clarion DXZ775USB) (most likely Clarion DXZ675USB)

I'd like to know if my amp would be good enough to power this set up and if there's anything else that I NEED to get.

Thanks in advanced.

Not a real big fan of those components, I'd go with something other than Kicker...like making a DIY set //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif And you're missing an amplifier in there, I'd get a monoblock or two-channel for the sub and use that four channel for the front stage...

But whatever you end up with, you're going to need a roll or two of sound deadening on that list.

thanks for the reply, so if I use that amp for the sub will it hold back the sub's power?

lol I'm not familiar with audio equipment at all as you can tell, so for sure this Amp would work good for components, so you're suggesting a 2-Ch amp how many watts should I be looking for? I do plan on adding another 10" L7 in the future

Thanks again

Yup, he's saying get a single or 2 channel amp for your sub/s...

..... You will want something that does either at least 600w @4ohm, or @ 1ohm. (would be cheaper to find that power @1ohm)

I still don't understand the ohm's =/

so would that be 600w RMS correct?

Yup. 600rms..

w/ the ohms thing... It's how you wire your sub. w/ 2ohm DVC (dual voice coil) you can wire ONE sub to get either a 1ohm or 4ohm load. You have to make sure that the amp is stable at the impedance you wire your woofer at too.

This link should help you

woofer wiring

EDIT: Also I would get a 2ch amp for your components, I don't see a need to use a 4 ch, and you might night be able to bridge both sides w/ the 4ch.. It might only be bridgible on one side..

oh, and yeah I was talking about the kicker ZX650.4 amp

also, if I get lets say a Kicker ZX1000.1 which gets 1000 watts RMS off 2 ohms since it's a mono amp I can still wire 2 subs with that amp correct?

ok so I decided to drop the RS65's and go with the PG RSD65CS's for the components and since I'm gonna go with a 4 channel amp can't I juse bridge 2 to the L7 at 325 RMS and use the other 2 channels for the front stage instead of buying a separate amp? I really don't need the sub to be really loud so I think that wattage should be fine.
