Not too sure about that particular tweeter. The large format scans are always a plus, but I doubt you can fit them in your car. If you can find the Alpine F#1 Scan Tweeter derivative that'd be a great solution.

Anyway, that 2-way setup would be bad-***. Matter of fact, when I was looking at that setup I started trying to figure up how much I could get for my stuff and upgrade to the Revs, lol. The addiction feeds itself.

would a 2 or 3 way system be better? seems to me like a 3 would get better sound because you have more drivers specifically for different frequency ranges.. these are the ones that kinda caught my eye from rainbow

http://car.rainbow-audio.de/products/introduction.php?lan=2&pro=1&lin=1

and couldnt find any 3 ways from them dunno if their any good SQ but they looked nice and shiny rofl thats what kinda got me sadly //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

I haven't read everything about that jbl processor but it is supposed to be really nice. You can use any head unit with it. If I'm not mistaken, and if I am someone please correct me, but I think Biggs was using the factory head unit in the last sq car that he put out for jbl and won best sq vehicle at SBN last March with speakers in factory locations plus a center channel. It's listed on http://www.carsound.com Anyway, I'm partial to Dynaudio myself especially for midbass duties. http://www.dynaudio.de/eng/auto/esotec.php?sid=478791d29e4e2 There are a few dyn dealers on here and also another good place to read up on things and productds used by alot of the top sq guys can be found at http://www.elitecaraudio.com Most of them are friendly and will be more than willing to help you out in any way possible. Also I would stay away from the JL line. I've never really liked them. Some of the more popular sq setups use: Arc Audio, Zapco, Genesis, Steg, US Amps, Audison, Helix, Brax, McIntosh for amplifiers. Head units: Alpine, Pioneer, Nakamichi, Denon (if you can get them), Clarion DRZ9255. Speakers: Focal Utopia Be, Hybrid Audio, Scan Speak, Dynaudio, Rainbow, Morel, DLS Subs: Image Dynamics, JL, Focal, Alpine. Processing: Alpine H701, JBL MS-8 whenever the thing comes out, Imagy Dynamics, etc. But, as we have all been stressing....installation is the MOST important!

hey everyone im new to the forums here. Had a question for you experts..
I have a 2006 graphite grey evo IX and wanna put a system in it. I have no clue on how to position the speakers kick panel or stock location. For thoes of you who dont know the evo has 2 speaker locations 2 up front 2 on rear deck all 6.5 components could fit up fron the tweeter is in the piller and the mid is in the door.

Past listening experience i had a buddy that had the sony ES copetetion series i believe that arnt made anymore. it had an AMAZING SQ. I want something close to that or better but reminder SQ is the goal here not sound level.

brands i have seen are BA pro which are priced around 400

FOCAL k2p i believe which are around 800

and iv heard the jl ZRs are good

i havent seen any reccomendations for a headunit altho i know alpine makes some VERY nice ones along with eclips.. simple clean very effective. Not looking for something Really flashy that performs like crap. Performance over looks for me

and what amp would you suggest? iv heard the new alpines are good but as stated before im no expert on car audio.. any and all suggestions good, bad, what ever are welcome and as all forums go I have my flame clothing on

Thanks in advance SQballin
What are the odds!! I too have an Evo IX and did install my system, but sounds like poo. Am trying to figure out y.

I love my Boston system, it has extreamly great SQ, but i wouldn't suggest the ported box, since you dont want that much SPL, but the Z's sound amazing, i'd say 1,000 for the SPZ6's or Z6's and get the GT24 or GT28 amp to push them, and I like the Eclipse HU, i used to have an Alpine deck, but this thing is insane with the time aligement and built in crossovers and my favorite feature the 8 volt pre-out, i couldn't be happier, I put the tweeters facing the window lower middle on the A piler, and the mid's in the stock location, the GT24 would run you around 500, GT28 around 700-800 the z's around 1000, and eclipse around 600.

// forgot to metion, use alot of dynamat on the doors, 1" peak to peak is pretty sick.

regardless what anyone tells you, the most important thing for a SQ setup is install. location, damping, correct enclosures, time allignment, crossovers, eq, all that is more important than just selecting equipment.

my advice is do some research before you drop a few grand on a system and have it sound like crap and u wonder why

i agree with all this.

thanks everyone for allt he input.. got another newb question tho. what is time alignment? lag time between certin cpeakerks so it hits your ears at the same time?

and how does the scanspeak compair to other components? like the BAs Focal 2kps or whatever

yep differences in path distance of drivers, based on diff locations etc..... it essentially aids in imaging, and also your stage height and seperation of diff instruments.

You got it.

Scanspeak Revelator drivers are considered some of the best speakers out, period, bar none, end of discussion. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I like this idea the most. Are we going to have him run active or passive? I think I might do this for my next setup as well!

Active, of course. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

That would be a great setup, IMO. I'd have to double check that tweeter though, b/c I'm not certain that's the one most of the guys who run scan tweets are using. I know a lot use the 2904 F#1 derivative, but not sure if the one I posted is the original to that derivative.

But, then I'd have to go 2-way again, and I think I like 3-way more.

And, the install better be TOP-NOTCH, otherwise you've wasted the $. IMO, and anyone else who has half a clue's as well. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

i think i want to go 3 way. does that mean i need 3 different amps? 1 for tweets 1 for mids and 1 for bass minds? i know thats considered active but do i need more than 1 amp? or can i run all 3 off of 1 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

2-way: Mids/Tweets

3-way : Midbass/Midrange/Tweets

These don't include the subwoofer, but it's assumed a sub is in there.

You only need as many channnels as you do speakers. So, if you go 3-way you have 3 sets of speakers, so you have 6 speakers total. You need 6 channels of amplification. 4 channels if going 2-way.
