first off i am looking for the tightest cleanest bass i can get that also hits really low(so overall sound quality over loudness and thump). since my trunk is very small and from time to time i will need to remove the subbox i have chosen the sub box so i am limited to a 10 or 12 inch sub and .8 cubic feet of air space :/ and i will be running sealed

so what would you guys recommend for $100 and under and also $200 and under

4ohms, dual voice coils(for easing of finding an amp to run it right), would like it to hit into the 20-27hz range with some authority, prefer something in the 300-600 watt rms range nothing lower or higher unless you can tell me a good reason to:D,

also if anyone here has an S2K or a convertible i would love to know your experiences with watts and sound levels with the top down i would like to be able to hear the bass as well as the mids and highs

thanks for all and any help //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif if i left out anything that i should have put in please let me know i will add it

i dont see any box recommendations and looks like its single voice coil on the Dayton subs but i love how clean they look

also do you have an amp would you recommend for those in the 10inch sizes?

also what would you say the differences between the 10ich dcon and 10inch dayton would be?

thats a good point till i manage to supercharge it(dreaming) then the weight wouldnt matter as much looks like the dayton weighs 18lbs and the dcon is 20lbs so more :/

im just curious about the performance i will be getting in the box i have to get :/ and pushing them at the recommended rms or 50watts over

i called both dayton and SSA and looks like the 10 inch dayton will work well as is in the box and the Dcon 10inch i should add a little polyfill for best performance how much would i need says optimal volume is .9 the box is .8 and the speaker takes up .1

so i have been looking around and on other forums dcon 10 would need some fill dayton would be fine without fill an ID 10 v3 d4 works great with no fill and a hertz es250.4 work without fill as well anyone have any input of these subs i would love to hear more about them if possible or how one would differ from the others

i dont like the look of the possible 21day wait on the dcon though on the site :/

I do like the Dcon subs but in my opinion everyone on this site is stuck on SSA, Sundown, AQ, DC, FI, etc..... They completely forget about some other name brand subs that maybe don't get crazy loud but are still great subs for the money. Aside from that I would look at getting a Boston Acoustic G3 sub. In a small sealed enclosure and 300rms that subs shines.

i do like the look and specs of the dcon but its not ideal for the box would need poly to sound its best and the possible 21 day waiting no thanks>.

now i am stuck between the Image Dynamics ID10 V3 D4 and the Dayton 10 reference HF what do you guys think between the 2 ? also just curious any of you familiar with Hertz ES series subwoofers? specifically the ES 250 D?

thanks again for all help and info so far:D

Shoulda have asked for amp advise too. Anything Jensen should be avoided IMO. Jensen amplifiers are cheaply made and come with inflated power ratings. They're one of companies that chooses to rate the amplifier at 2% THD, as you can verify by reading the amp manual carefully. My first amp was a Jensen 5-channel amp. The back plate was rattling like crazy, and the thing was making speakers whine at high engine RPM even though I had no issues with any other amplifier in the same install.

well i havent ordered anything yet what would you recommend for 150 and under to get 400watts rms at 4ohms

For $150, try PPI Phantom P600.2 or Soundstream TN2.600. They are the same amplifier inside. You get 600watts of power bridged. Onlinecarstereo has both. PPI is a $10 cheaper.
