Need help deciding what sub to buy...

Well I just really liked the two lol I can't do a 15" because I don't have the space. A 12" is ideal for my little cobalt. I have a high output alternator being built by mechman. I just ordered the cheap cab 1600.1 after seeing bigdwiz and Steve Meade do the dynos on them. I'm wanting to run at 1 or half ohm. What do you think the x series can take on clean power?

Is it very musical at all? I heard they really just are for the low lows which I love but I listen to all kinds of music. Where can I get nsv3 coils to recone the x at a future date if I go with it?

It all depends on enclosure. I listen to everything with my sundowns. Play just fine.... U order recones through sundown

you shouldnt be buying a 4 inch coil if you are just powering your sub with a car audio bargain amp. you'll have much better luck getting loud with a 3 inch coil with that little power. Box rise > any amp dyno cr@p. Real world numbers will always be considerably less than the amp dyno which is a resistive load. The amp will never EVER see 1 ohm or half ohm unless you are wiring to 0.25 ohms or less. The amp is just a 1600 rms amp. Dynamic tests are clipped bullsh*t tests that mislead the noobs, certified is what you go by for clean true sustainable power.

the hdc4 and contralto series are nice sub no doubt, but I say with an x series sundown. im an AA guy and the x series line is my second favorite sub of all time. and I havnt even heard one in person. just the fact that ive seen nothing but good reviews on them everywhere I look is enough to convince me. I love that their rms rating is not over the top, but they can still take a beating. you should be satisfied with an x 12 v2 sundown. go for it man, I wanna get me one also for my corolla trunk build

Alright alright x12 it is lol the cab amp should be temporary. The sub and alternator set me back a little on cash (bass head problems) lol y'all think the scv3000d would be to much? What version of sub should I get dual 1 so I can wire to half ohm and with box rise and what not hopefully see 1 ohm? Thank you

im not completely sure on this but I think the x 12 come only in d2 and d4. get the d2 so you can run it at 1 ohm, and if you plan to upgrade later on you can always get another d2 x12 and bring them down to half ohm. and about the amp that scv would be perfect, but theres several other amps out there that are great also. and about a box design I can help you out on that for free, ive had great success with box builds. I use torres box calculator its really easy to use

Suggest a few amps for me then //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
bc3500, but be careful if your going to run only 1 sub on that thing. id only go that route if you plan to upgrade later on. if you wanna stick to an amp that will be enough to power just one x12 id go with a soundqubed 2200, even that cab1600 will be good. plenty of other amps but idk if your on a budget, id say the saz1500 also but msrp on that thing is ridiculous. for just one sub your not going to need much. when I get my x12d2 v2 im gna throw it on a brutus 1600.1 at 1 ohm

SSA Zcon in a 2.5-3.25 cubic feet box tuned to 33hz with a crescendo BC 3500 would get you extremely loud. Mines got loud off a cheapo brutus 2400, you can tell it was begging for much more from how little the excursion was. However its not a power hungry sub either, was pretty **** efficient(basshead term for loud if you didnt know) off budget power. No brainer since with the 100 dollar off special going at SSA, its cheap as HDC4 right now and way better overall build quality and design. SSA also has pre-designed box plans designed by SSA themselves.
