Need help deciding on system

I just want to know what you guys think of what I picked out before I hit the order button.

Amp: Alpine MRP-M500

That sub will not work with that amp, it has dual 2 ohm voice coils which would give you a final impedance load of 1 ohm, too low for that amp. If you tried to play it on that amp the amp will cut out and go into protect mode, or possibly even blow. A type-R would work well with that amp although you would need the model with dual 4 ohm voice coils.

I would get the dual 4 ohm type r and wire it to 2 ohms, giving it 500 watts.

nice equipment choice btw, what kind of box you gonna use?

No you need to buy the dual 4 ohm model and wire it at 2 ohms, like option 1 on this page

I reccomend building your own box, it will be better than any pre-made box you can buy. I would shoot for around 2 cubic feet tuned around 34Hz.

yeah, you can buy a sheet of 3/4" mdf wood for around $20, a bottle of glue, box of screws and carpet for $10-15 all together.

i have the same setup...it pounds. I have it in an suv and the stuff in my cupholders shake around...my rear view shakes like crazy...my roof flexes...etc. I have a single 12" 4ohm type-r wired at 2ohms to the alpine mrp-m500 amp. I built a custom ported box that is 2.15 cubic feet after displacements tuned to 37hz fb. (the manual reccommends 36 hz fb/33hz f3 but i listen to rap/hip hop so i tuned alittle higher)
