My dads keeps *****ing to me how 2 10s is going to be waaaaaaay over the top and too much bass for my first system. he wants me to go with 1 12.... which i dont want to do at all.... do you guys have any points or suggestions i can tell to him why 2 10s wouldnt bt too much than 1 12? hes worried about me losing trunk space which is b.s. i have a sick deal from a friend of mine and really dont wanna pass the 2 10s up... what should i do

Are you paying for it or is your dad? What type of 10s are you looking at and for how much? You might be able to get a 12 and get louder than 2 10s with it. Why on earth would any 17 year old need trunk space other than for filling it with a huge enclosure?

Is your dad paying for it?
no way in hell he would pay for it. i work year round. and the car is in my dads name, but im the only one who drives it because my aunt "gave" it to me.... and he wants me to go to a local stereo shop but they overcharge sooooooo much and i refuse to go there and let them take my hard earned money.

the subs i would be getting from a friend knows the owner of rd audio so they would techinically be his... brand new in box for like half price

All reasonable responses so far.
Take the 12", and be happy that your dad cares enough about you to show some interest in your hobbies...
^^^^this.

my dad didnt like bass either till he sat in my car last week. he thought it felt cool and was bummed he couldnt go to the show yesterday.

EDIT: Didn't see your above post.

Just show him how much money you can save by doing it your way. He -should- be impressed with the fact that you were so responsible rather than just throwing your money at a store.

If he brought the car, and buyig the equipment than just appericate he brought that. One thing at a time, some kids don't even get a chance to have a car brought for them, let alone some don't even have dads. Appericate the man, and say thanks, and if he says just one 12 than get one 12. I mean come on kid, be grateful.

Edit: well since he has to finicial stake in this do what you wanna do, and if you can install it than do that.

true but he didnt buy it it was given to us, but he does pay insurance on it and its in his name, but i do pay for everything else... gas, mechanics, etc.

i would be happy with the one 12 but i would end up spending so much money thats not needed to spend from the local shop
