Sorry, I know there's probably a million threads about this, but my car is a bit retarded so my case is a bit special. So I have a '98 subaru outback, 6.5" mount, and it can only handle about 2" deep speakers (I think that's about right, if someone could give me an exact number that would be great, google seems to be no help). I use 2 kicker cvx10's (yes i know I'm mixing a spl sub with sq speakers) so I'm looking for speakers that have good highs with decent midbass. I'm thinking that a 2 way component system would be the best route to go, but if you think otherwise please speak up. I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to audio, so I'm assuming that a passive setup would work best, but if I'll regret not having any control later I might as well spend my time learning now. I'm looking to spend around $600-$800 on the whole setup, but if I could save some money without too much of a decrease in quality that would be nice, and if there's a significant increase in quality then I would be willing to spend more.

i got a 98 subaru legacy.. and i have the same thing with shallow doors.. but just add a spacer.. and you shouldnt have a problem fitting most comps..

I looked at the front and I thought I could probably add a spacer, but I'm pretty lazy. And the backs look like there's about a quarter inch space between the door panel and the speakers I have now (shitty sony ones my brother gave me because he realized they ****)

Would it sound bad to put this guy's (http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=315169) components in my back and then the hsk 165's up front, or should I try to make all of my speakers the same? If I do put different speakers in front and in back would I need to get two different amps?
