Need feedback on wattage of sub/amp

I am about to purchase a Kenwood KAC9103D and I want to get some feedback on this amp before I make the mistake and blowing up another sub. My 12" is also Kenwood with its peak power of 1200W and the RMS is up to 400. Now, will this amp be too much for my sub and if so, what wattage should I look for? I had 1000W peak power amp (RMS of 300) before it blew.. Thanks

what ever you do, do not go by the peak power. i had that amp if i remember right it does 500 at 4 ohm. so depending on what voice coil your sub is u can run it at 4 ohm and be fine. but you need to set your gain correctly. read the gain setting tutorial on how to set gain with a DMM in the amp section

I never do which is why I asked on the RMS. It is a single coil (4 ohms) but I hope you are right.
