Need exhaust help for my Jeep :)

Enjoys loud noises.
I have a 4.0 V6 in my jeep, and i want to find a muffler that will give it a deep mellow tone, with no crackle and no WHRRR like that garbage ricer crap. I already have a upgraded air intake, so that will help in terms of sounding a little deeper.

is a youtube video to the closest thing i've found i've liked. It doesnt crackle when letting off the gas, and it has a nice, mean idle to it.
Anybody have any suggestions or experiences?

Also, a side note, does it matter where in the exhaust you install the muffler? Will having it closer to the headers or closer to the tip make a difference tone wise? (I don't have a catalytic converter)

Thanks guys!

If your wanting that deep aggressive low tone, then you want a chambered muffler.. Any muffler with some sort of packing material will in time give you that raspy ugly sound. Also the way piping works is the more pipe you run the more mellow the tone gets and not as loud as it would be say if you were to side swipe your exhaust. Also if you have headers instead stock manifolds it will give you more of an aggresive tone.. I'd recomend some Force Auto 2 chambered muffler, Flowmaster Original 40, Super 40 series, or Super 44 series. On a V6 I've noticed if you run the muffler about foot and half or so after the Y collector and do dump tips off the muffler it yeilds a pretty nice tone. Also some interior noise as well. But in a Jeep your going to get all kinds of interior noises.

i got the same truck as you and i got a flowmaster 40 series on it it sounds pritty good it sounds best around 3000 rpms but dont get ur expectations up cause its only a 6 cylender any other questions just lmk

I have a gibson exhaust cat back. Sounds okay deep mellow tone to it. What are you Inspections like in KY to get away with out having a cat.
No inspections in KY at all. Or TN, where i am originally from. Just buy your tags each december and you're golden.

Thanks for all the suggestions, i am gonna find the gibson website and see if i can't find some good sound clips.
