I'm a noob to all this the forum & higher end car audio. Anyways i purchased a XXX 15 sub. i was wondering if someone could help me put some figures together to build a box. it will be going into the trunk of a cavalier. i would like to go ported if that will be possible. can someone help me out. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

mixture of both. but from what i see i dont think a box tuned to facoty specs will fit in my trunk i would like to leave the trunk as is. i play all kinds of music from rap/country/metal.

ok, sounds cool. i see you design boxes. can i ask you some dumb questions. what type of material would be best to use (wiring, adhesive, termianls, etc...) also i really and dont LOL at this i have no clue what you mean by tuning. hope i'm not sounding too bad.

rough measured estimates are 33x18x30. i would like to go ported with the xxx15, but i think with these parameters sealed would have to be the better option. what do you guru's think. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif

you have a good 8.572cu ft of internal volume. i would say that's plenty for a ported box.

split that volume between the port, driver displacement and the air volume required by the sub and you have a sweet sounding enclosure.

Wood: 3/4" MDF / 1" dowels for internal bracing

Adhesive: Wood Glue and 1 1/2" coarse Drywall screws

Wiring: 12Ga Speaker cable

Terminals: your preference on terminal cups

Tuning is what you do on the ports to get a certain frequency. I recommend using Precision ports (2 x 4" precision ports) you cut them to a certain length based on box size to get the tuning

this is something i came up with.

length 30", Height 16", Depth 20.5" port 3.25" The inside "L" shape going 10"x15"

any comments on the dimensions not the cartoonish drawing...lol

that is un-visable by the human eye.

try opening it in paint, saving it as a JPEG, than uploading it whereever you upload it to, if you upload a BMP into most online hosting things, they go crazy making it smaller into a jpg.

good luck with that.
