Need computer help "Laggy" video during gaming

I've heard the VoodooPc laptops are great for gaming but cost a lot of $$$.

Too rich for my blood. I am just wanting a laptop that can run protools, photoshop, the TL, and WinMLS software...with the occational counterstrike, halo, and BF2.

A better mobile video card, preferably from nVidia would do the trick.

More ram - 2 GB would be awesome.

A processor to match wouldnt be a bad decision aswell.

No, definitely not necessary, but may aswell upgrade now.

The more demanding games get, the more RAM that will be used to adequately support them.

Toshiba (and most companies) preset to 64 MB of shared memory. Setting to 128 MB probably won't solve the problem, although it may help a little.
As already said, your integrated graphics processor is the problem (it's not fast enough and its Intel).

When you say you tried DirectX 7, do you mean you set it to work in DirectX 7 mode (mat_dxlevel 70) ? Did you try DirectX 6 mode (mat_dxlevel 60) ?

I just went through the comp and couldnt find how to change the shared memory. Looks like its automatically controled by the system.

Yep...I agree about the integrated card. I can run small maps like iceworld, but dust, office, and any other large map kills me.

I thought that Source had to have DX 7 or higher...

Oh well... am looking again for another LT.

u dont even need an expensive laptop, just look for one with Nvidia or Ati video cards. Most laptop run the Intel crap which barely runs anything.
