14.4V was chosen at the demand of headunit manufacturer's. It was the only way to get them on board with the standard.

That's interesting, i can see that happening. And the reason why 13.8v would be better in my opinion is because i have never seen a car run below that. Whereas i continually see cars run below 14.4v. At least then i will know the amp will do, at a minimum, what the reference 13.8v spec says. But thank you for approaching me with respect this time, I am not just some idiot *****ing.
