need clarification on power wire

Aloha all!

I'm gonna soon install a kenwood eq (kgc-4032) for my front/rear speakers. The eq has a built in amp. For the power wire, I was just wondering if I can just "tap in" with the decks power wire? I'm pretty sure I can...I just need clarification before I do.

go for it... i doubt any EQ would need 16 guage or bigger

yes, that ought to be fine. Although I would probably stick to just deck power, unless you plan to power more speakers. If you plan to power more speakers off the equalizer, I would give the eq it's own power source.

you might wanna run a lil bigger wire to that thing since it will be powering you speakers, maybe something like 8or10 gauge, but if you want to tap into the radio power wire im sure that will be fine, probably will be a pain to do

Thanks for the quick reply guys! Now that I know what to do...I can't wait to hear what a difference an EQ makes.
