need box plains for 1997 gmc 1500 ex cab

I've had my seat out for over 3 years now, don't miss it at all. And I don't even have subs right now...
I just think the truck looks cleaner with the seats and its easier to go on road trips and what not when you have seats to fit luggage on. Last time I went on a long road trip we had to put our suit cases into black trash bags so they didn't get wet and throw them in the bed of the truck because I had a huge sub box where the seats should have been lol.

Good luck. Im going with two 8" subs under the rear seats of my 150. Wouldnt even try to go with tens or 12's.

A friend had a box off ebay, that was sealed front firing that protruded out from his seat 2-3" that sounded like a$$.

I know one guy on here lifted his 4" and was able to port four 10's recently, I'm raising mine 2" and am going to be able to fit four sundown sa-8's ported.
This is me. But you have an OBS truck and the seat lift will be way dif than mine. I did a blowthrough in a truck like yours before but thats pretty extreme. Here are a couple other options for you.Pull the seat, Build a box and have the bottom padded and build a back have it upholstered , You can tru an fab up a bracket to lift the seat. If you cant do either of these you can try and front fire the subs but build the bottom out alot farther than the top so the face is at an angle and that will get you a little more airspace. Odds are you are still gona need a little more space so just have the box come out past the seat.

I was going to suggest that too. It wouldn't be that hard to just make a bigger box and pad it for use as a back seat. Maybe even rip the oem seat apart and use the back and upholstery. I wouldn't do that unless your sure you won't ever put it back stock though.

ill jus make my own box jus like my friends box and put 2 12's in them
I think the idea of raising the seat will work out the best, 2" will be a lot. Not sure what the dimentions would be on your buddy's box and even though it seems to hit hard you would be really suprized what the extra volume would yeild if the box was bigger. If you were to use a decent set of 10's it would really sound and hit good. Just an example because I've seen them in action, 2 10" earthquakes "I think they were the dbxi or something like that" hit amazing lows and were loud, they sounded like 12-15" subs and in no more space then you have.

So with a decent set of tens you can really make some bass or even 4 8's wich would yeild 32" of subwoofer. Don't be fooled by the smaller subwoofers thinking they won't make bass.

Also consider a decent set of shallow mount 12's if you have to have 12's as those will take up a lot less airspace.

If your looking for a lot of bass you need about 1cf each sub minimum. My box behind my seat of my crew cab has 2 12"s and hits pretty darn hard with 1.3cf each. If your not looking for a lot of bass then you may be fine with what your gonna do.

Don't be afraid to really think about what these guys on here say because they have the experience and were in your shoes once. So think things through before you go any further.

If your anything like most bass hungry people your gonna need space and power.

Keep us updated. Russ

I was thinking of razing the seat all i would have to do i thank is get 1inch peace of medal use the torch and put 2 holes in it and put some grade A bolts throw them and the truck floor and there we go

i highly agree with turning the enclosure into a seat. It will look unique and sound great! but if your box is going to fire foward, i suggest speaker grills! lol

...btw, 4 SA-8s ported in a cab has to be BADASS!!!
