need box help! two 15" kicker L5s in 94 accord

well if in the best situation those subs handle 750 RMS and you are running them at 800RMS you are already chancing it. the bigger the box, the less resistance to movement you have as it is easier to compress the air inside, so you lose power handling. I really doubt you will hit a 150 also. You need to stop asking for peoples opinions and do some research for yourself... If you want to seriously compete, you need to learn how to do these things for yourself. The more you research and find out for yourself, the less likely you will put together a mismatched system again in the future.

should I make the box smaller then?

well my L5s came in today. They look awesome. I will be installing them tomorrow. I think I am going to make my box a tad bit smaller than what it is now. Around 3.5 cu ft for each speaker.

Well I got them installed today and it POUNDS!!! I made each box 3 cu ft minus whatever the speaker takes up. I faced them towards the trunk. There is about a 7 inch port in between the 2 boxes for some more space to help let the sound get up to the front. I put a bag of poly fill in each box. Right now I only have one of my audiobahn amps hooked up and im only running around 150 RMS to each speaker (I had to actually turn the amp down so I could hear the mids and highs!). My other audiobahn amp messed up a week ago and I gotta send it in and get it fixed. Once it gets back I will have 800 RMS goin to each sub.

My driver mirror and rearview mirror are completly unusable when its turned up because it shakes so much. My girlfriend has a hard time breathin when I turn it up real loud. It rained a little today and there was water on my car and i turned it up and shut all of the doors and windows and the seal around my back glass had bubbles forming from the air pressure pushing on the water.

Now...I HAVE ANOTHER QUESTION...my sisters boyfriend has a Memphis 1000d amp that he said he would trade me for one of my audiobahn amps. I could hook his 1 memphis amp up and run around 500 RMS to each sub. Or once I got my other amp fixed I could run around 800 RMS to each sub. Do you think I should trade him or keep my two audiobahn amps? I know going with my 2 amps I would have more wattage but I know that memphis is a much better brand.

One more thing is there a noticeable difference after the L5s breaks in?

i'm not always in perfect agreement with darkfox //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif j/k, but he's trying to help you, man

put one of those subs in a big box, tuned low, and you will destroy both of them the way you have them.

And ya, get a real amp, and a big alternator. Even if those Audiobahns can make 800w, which they can't, your factory electrical system couldn't give them enough power anyways.

Should've gotten rid of the 2nd 15 while it was still sealed.

You're going to bump into some 'chump' with a 'best buy system' with a 500w amp that's louder than you, and you're not gonna know what the hell is wrong. It happens all the time.

Well I've already installed the two l5s in the sealed box and thats what I am going to keep. Now I just need to know if the memphis amp will be better than my 2 audiobahn amps.

The max dimensions I have gotten from the trunk for a box would be
32" length, between the back carpet walls

15" high, if you do any higher, you'll run into the piece of metal hanging off the rear deck. You can do up to 16 7/8" high, but you'll run into the metal latch and sacrifice depth.

30" deep, or just about
i've got 2 12" Kicker L7's in my 94 accord...
the box's external dimensions are:

31" wide

15.5" tall

22.25" deep

the box takes up about 6.18 cubes total... the inside of the box is about 4.96 cubes. The port almost takes up about a cubic foot... leaving 2 cubes per sub.

The box could have been maybe 4-6 inches wider. Maybe 4 inches deeper. No taller than 15.5 inches (at 16 inches the box wouldn't fit trough my trunk opening.)

Assuming 35w X 15.5t X 26d, you've got 6.64 cubes to work with... and umm... i wouldn't put 2 L7 15's in that. especially since the port would take up about half a cube of that.

unless you want to do something wild involving your entire trunk and fiberglass, its not happening...

the point of polyfill it to slow down the sound wave in a attemt to make the box sound deeper. sometimes it gives good results.. sometimes you dont notice it much. Another thing for you to experiment with and see what sounds best to you.
Polyfill damps resonance.
a vented box's gain is due to resonance.

if you've got a ported box with a nasty peak you'd like to tame, polyfill is a good idea... if not...

edit: wait... i just realized dude went with a sealed box for his L5's. BAD decision.
