i miss my Bose system(sold my maxima). i bought a 1998 mercury grand marquis with a factory stereo thats just okay. without costing an arm/leg i'd like to come close to the clarity that i once had. lots of power and volume are not a big concern, too many Stones and Black Sabbath concerts in the past. do i start with the speakers, the stereo?? ANY and ALL helpful hints/suggestions would be very much appreciated!!

suffering in silence,

Dave

well if you want to buy a low budget system I would maybe look for some pheonix gold RSD's for speakers. Maybe even cdt.. those comps in my sig. I love the way they sound. Good midbass an great vocals. Only run about $150. You are going to want to run your front components off of an amp. I know alpine has some pretty cheap 4ch amps. (also check my sig for that) I believe that the cd player is the most important part of all besides install materials such as deadening. I honestly recomend starting off with a good deck and that is where i would put most of my money. $300-$400 on a strong cd player. Maybe cheaper in the classified section on here.

1.) sound deaden your doors

2.) buy nice cd player

3.) component set and amplifier

you really have to tell us how much you wanna spend total

a total system overhaul is alwyas best but may not always fit your budget

id do headunit and speakers first, then if you dont like that get an amp on them

do you also want a sub?

even an 8" driven by 300 watts sub will help
