My Acura Integra setup is:

Kenwood KDC-MP228 http://www.crutchfield.com/S-dm7lGHJU9yJ/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=300&I=613MP228

6.5” Pioneer speakers in front http://www.discountcarstereo.com/detail.aspx?ID=223

6.5” Stock speakers in back

1 12” Alpine 2005+ model DVC 4ohm Type R

MRD-M500 Alpine amplifier 2ohms @ 500w rms

I am looking to change up my setup a little bit, but with the cheapest good way possible (I know its ironic). I’m not an audiophile and I think that the front speakers already sound really good, so I don’t want to go thru the hassle of amping my speakers. The problem is that with my headunit, there is no control for the subwoofer. I use the fade and bass control to get the desired output, but it makes the speakers sound funny sometimes because all I get is mostly treble and really deep bass. I thought about getting the bass controller for the amp but its 36 bucks on Crutchfield (I know you guys don’t like bass controllers). What other options do I have?

I am also going to replace the rear 6.5” speakers because one of them is blown. Any suggestions on speakers to replace them? Ideally I would like to spend 30, but I’ll go up to 50. I just need something that will sound about the same as the pioneers in front, running off the headunit.

Thanks!!

You cant hear the rear speakers in a teg, dont bother replacing them, just un hook them.

When you do this you will have a ghetto sub volume controller. Just use the fader for front/back. Forward for less bass, back for more bass.

Find a cheap $30 amp on ebay for your front speakers annd some used 6.5" component speakers. I changed my friends coaxials to componsnts in his integra and it was so much louder and better sounding.

hmm interesting... i unhooked my sub for now and it seems like the rear speakers do actually make a difference tho. does teh sub fill in the rear enough?

i was thinkin about the DEH-p590ib. i already havea set of ts-a1680r coaxials in front. im pretty satisfied with what i have exept that i cant change the bass. the coaxials sound pretty good to me, a little better would do. what about if i just amp the speakers i have with a small 50x2 amp?

would i get better output with a higher voltage hu preout? mine is 2.2 but the 590ib is 4v.

The subs bass will overpower the rear speakers, the only reason you noticed them because there was no sub.

If you got the new pioneer you would be able to change whatever you need.

Im fairly certian that model has sub volume built in.

The output wont be any better, you just wont have to turn the gain up as much.

Now if you were to go from 2.2v to 5-6V you would probaby notice it.

Id get a new h/u first and disconnect the rears and see how that sounds

P.S

If you fold down the passengers side seat in the back with your sub hooked up it will be louder.

PPS.

If you dont have headers for your car ive got some pace setter ones for 94+ LS, i'll sell them cheap cuz i dont want them.
