Z does not stand for Zenon, but they are Zenon boards. From my experience with 1500, 2K, and 3K they really impress at .5 ohm nominal....have a solid electrical before you try because they really **** up a lot of current to make power at that impedence.
I heard it in the first video that's why I mentioned it.... I've heard it before too, I use motors now that don't bottom out the coil, but slapping the tripple joint on the top plate sounds almost as harsh. Are they functioning at low power? I suspect a lower tuned box or proper use of subsonic filter would prevent that bottoming out. Really if you're hitting x-mech on these you're doinitwrong. If they're moving that much your port is unloading and you're getting almost no output anyway. Personally I'm not a big fan of suspension so stiff you could stand on it just so that you can play 20hz below tuning at full power without breaking a woofer. I'd rather tune the box to control down to where I need or use HPF appropriately.
"SPL" sub = low mass, generally low excursion, short bursts @ 50-65hz. I would bet you could burp these with far more than 1KW in a properly tuned box >50hz. Long story short SPL coils are probably not the best option for daily driving..they're for SPL burps.
Still though, grab good single 18 and that'll be a good come-up.
