I am currently running 2 Jl 12W3s on a JL 1000/d am Its making 1000 watts at 2 ohms. I want something louder but not sure whereto go. Should i buy another amp and 2 subs or buy another of the same amp and run 2 with 2 different subs? I was looking at 2 Fi Qs but not sure. Thnaks for the help.

Ive been pleased with my American Bass XFL 12s for the last couple years. They sound amazing and clean in the right enclosure, and can also throw out some real DBs if youd like with an spl type enclosure. Im running two pair on an American Bass VFL 4480.1d @2ohms each. All subs in a single chamber @2.06 cu ft @32htz.Sound fantastic. Sound Quebed subs are very nice as well,as I am running a pair of DVC 2 ohm 10s in 4cu ft @32htz on a Mmats @2ohms approx. 1500rms, and do nicely. Lots of subs to choose from, yet, Im enjoying these,as they get a nice beat down on the daily

audiobaun is sending you in the exact direction I was going to. Grab two American Bass XFL 12's, VERY solid subs and not badly priced at all. Get them in the dual 4 ohm version, then either buy another JL 1000.1, one to each sub.... Or grab an efficient 2kw monoblock, making sure it isn't a cheapo. With 2k RMS, you may want to think about at least a cell or another battery though. Also, what size power and ground wire are you using? 2k RMS on 4 ga. power and ground is no good. You will not get the 14.4v that most amps need to do rated power. 1/0 ga. is what you want for any substantial amount of power....

A good question would be,,is your enclosure made properly, or is it shelf bought?/ prefabbed? A properly tuned enclosure for the sub/subs makes all the difference in sound as well as performance. Ive heard some 600 rms subs in the properly tuned enclosure out perform a 1k sub in a prefabbed enclosure. It also makes a difference in performance of what type of vehicle you have to determine what enclosure will work best as well. All you may need at this point in time is a properly built enclosure, and the proper electrical to feed your amp, to justify the max performance of what you have.Rather than half,or less

This is true. From what I understand, them 12w3's are very nice sounding subs and put out decent SPL too.... Maybe get someone to draw you up a box design based on the 12w3's and your vehicle? I would think them subs would perform pretty well in the right enclosure, if they are not already in an optimal enclosure that is. If you're running sealed and want more SPL, custom build a ported enclosure at a higher Hz.

They are in a prefab at the moment. It is a port slotted box but I prefer sealed. I was think two Fi Q 12s with a JL1000/1 on each and have a sealed box designed later with a good 2 + cubic feet.

louder and SQ oriented subs + sealed box does not go into the same equation man. SSA Icon 12s, american bass xfl 12s, sundown sa 12s and a soundqubed 2200 will outright sound better and get a lot louder then what you are planning to do.

As said before Prefabs = a live singer performing with a sock in their mouths. You wont get anything decent out of a prefab box. Switch the box to a decent box first before you waste money.

You only prefer sealed because you've NEVER heard a properly designed ported box. DO NOT clump in piece of SH*T chinese boxes in the same category as a proper ported box. Thats the worst mistake you can do. The two are in seperate worlds.
