Need advice on upgrade

I didn't see anything on here related to how much you are willing to spend. Have you put deadener in your car?

JL is expensive for what it is. Some of their products are very good , but you can usually do better for the same money. If you are more sq biased, then look into Image Dynamics Q series, ID Max or Dayton Audio. New equipment will help you some but the correct box and install quality goes a lot further. What is your electrical system, any upgrades? A bigger amp will not do much if your dodge can't make enough power.

First off you're right, that's why I want to stay under 1000w I have 4 gauge ran now and I don't want to upgrade electrical. But about the jlaudio, this is the jx series and the amp is 300 bucks, I was buying it second hand for 160. Does this change your opinion at all? I like the idea of Korean made or Chinese for sure so I will just keep looking into these brands you told me about

I will spend some money because I know I will get some back when I sell the old. Everything is great shape with boxes and receipts. I have not upgraded under the hood but I ran 4 gauge in hopes of upgrading to about 1000watts.

It is not a terrible deal. Look for an efficient amp if you are using stock electrical. if I remember right, the Brazilian amps are fairly efficient Banda and Taramps. Consider at least doing the big 3 to your wiring and maybe a new battery

yeah i ain't gonna fault u for $160.. but the ts1k for $219 is hard to beat price for quality for $59 more new.. if u wanta stay sealed u could go with the daytons or idq's or these made in us they make the ssa subs Alpha Series - Alpha 12 | Fi Car Audio

I myself would run a Dayto HO 12..They carry a 5 year warranty, and will do very nicely for you and take up little space.Id run it with a PPI Phantom 1000.1d @ 2ohms on the electrical you have, and at the least do the Big 3 in 0,0r 2a.I think that you will be pretty satisfied for quite some time with that SQ setup without rattling the hell out of your vehicle..An ID Max would be other choice for a SQ sub,or an ARC 1k rms 12 if you can find one. Most Deffenitly get your sub box built and as close to specs as possible(some of us reach out beyond the limits/recommendations of which experimenting to achieve the most out of that product that others would never consider).Gcon has been one of the favorites of a SQ sub woofer for a few years.MECCA guys I use to spend some time around all used Dayton,ID MAX,Morel,ARC,Boston 13" oval,FI,PSI,Focal,Polk, and even the Gcon and Icons, and few others that were just expensive as hell

Dude I haven't even read your post yet, I see your name is audiobahn, first time I saw that name was today in the classifieds and the guy will meet me right now and let me drop them in my trunk to hear them. He wants only 100 for the 2 tens in box. I asked the model he wasn't sure but he said they are only 450watts rms each. Is this something to stay away from or go check out? Thanks

u talking about audiobahn subs? nooo

Alright, I think ill stick with whats been mentioned in here.
yeah he's been around a while, he's almost my age and the ppi amp he recommended is what i have., btw i'm only running it at 2 ohms so not even full power.. and u see he recd the same subs i did because he goes on experience and i pass on what the big guys here have recd to others.. he's 1 of the reasons i got my amp and i'm very happy with it $169 new.. u just need to tell us what car u have and think about a nice ported box.. if u get 1 sub thats less $ to spend and makes it easier to get nice box., ssa dcon page has a very nice design on it, mine will be a tad bigger but inside will look like that (rounded corners).. oh maybe i can show u..

No..The only Audiobahn subs that are worth buying are the USA MADE subs that are the AW series..Like AW1008T, AW1006T in tens and 12s the like.Ive had both of my 8Ts(4)and 6Ts(4) and both have lasted up to date and still slamm.I had two 18s as well. They went/sold out to Foreign and went to junk.I bought all USA/Cali. made and the Comp grade stuff that was winning alot of comps and taking name at the time.HCT 4125,and HCT 2300,2200 and 18001 amps,ABC 6300 3 way components, and ABC 2 way components. They sold out in like two years..Rest is pure junk

So these subs are very musical, I looked at some sq subs on youtube and it sounds like you get all the frequencies from that sub. I am so confused now. So that Dayton plays a wide range of frequencies including vocals? And why is that desired if it's buried in a trunk? Please help me understand this part so I can decide on a new sub lol this part just really threw me through a loop!
