Im Da *** Man!!!
ok, so a friend of mine contacted me about a month an a half a go letting me know that he was selling his setup, a 13w7 with box an jl 1000/1. i told him i would buy it but i didnt have the cash. he brought up the fact that he would trade me his setup for mine, 2 massive cw12s box an kicker kx1200.1. i told him sure why the hell not.
at the moment i only had 1 CW bc the the other had the LED light broken off an rattling around inside the cone. i told him i would get it fixed for him an give him the sub when i got the recone. well the whole day i got the sub, i was playin with it tryin to tune it right an it would keep making this popping noise at high volumes. i checked the gain, it was set right. i had the LOUD off on my radio, bass at 0 an LPF set at -8 an when i turned it up to regular listening volume the sub kept popping. so i left it alone for a few days an then took into one of our local shops. i explained to them about the problem an he said it probably had a bad coil. well the manager came out an we took the sub out of the box an he got a DMM an checked the coils. as all know the 13w7 is a dual 1.5VC config. he read the coils an one read 1.3 the other .7. he said that the sub would eventually blow an that it was pretty much a paperweight waiting to happen. after hearing this i contacted my friend an told him that i thought i was jipped on the deal. he in turn told me quote word for word "i dont care, its your sub now, wheres my other sub." i took offense a little an told him that i thought we should return the setups to each other an be done. he said that the deal was final an that he would be waiting for his sub.
well, i took that as a big FVCK YOU an pushed the other sub to the side. i recently sold the amp on craigslist, an ditched the dub7. my friends at circuit city plugged into the wall an we had fun with it. well i kept tellin him that yea i was goin to get it fixed but had no intentions on it. well last week he contacted me about the sub an asked if it was fixed. i told him no. i dropped it off out his house the next day. well a few days ago his dad gets invovled. he is tellin me that i need to make right on the trade an get his sub fixed. i told him that i had every intention on doin so until i found out about the w7. he said i should have contacted them about it if i was unhappy with the trade an we would trade back. i told him that i told his son about the problem an he blew it off an said that it was my problem not his. well his son is denying ever saying that an his dad is demanding i pay for the recone for the massive. if i didnt then he would get his lawyer involved. now i know that this couldnt hold up in court as there was NO contract or written agreement for this trade. only word of mouth.
so basically i am asking, Who is in the wrong?? an what do i do??
i personally believe i was took in the deal an that the recone should be on them not me. if i am wrong please say so.
thanks for any input guys.
