Hey everyone!

Haven't logged on in quite a while, so now I have a big question. I'll try to explain all parts as much as possible. Here goes.

Local shop is setting me up on a $6k system. I told him I want some very nice SPL, but not "just" SPL....he and I ran over the w7's, which i've had before and i liked them a lot. Here's the set-up he wants to throw into my car. Keep in mind, this is all needing to fit in the trunk of a 2006 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V.

HU: Alpine 9860 with the iPod hookup ...

Components: Boston Acoustic Pro series 6.5 ...can't remember the model number off hand.

Amp to run components: JL Audio 500/5 slash series. Or maybe even a 450/4.

Subs: JL Audio 12 w7's with custom box to fit my trunk.

Amp to run subs: JL Audio 1000/1 to run both.

Secondary Batt: Stinger 1k amp drycell.

Wiring: 0+4 for power/speakers respectively.

Plus install blah blah blah. He gave me a price right around $6000 for all that. Now my question is this ....for $6000 ...or hell, maybe even lower (hopefully) ...is this the best setup that any of you could think of for what application i want it to utilize? I want a daily driver, but I want the big bang of a competition-style setup as well....ANY help would be appreciated on this matter! Thank you all for looking!

Greg

No....do not spend 6k on that.

you should buy your stuff online, you would really save a lot

I just did a price comparison on all those components, and i would be saving around $1200 .....but i'm just not sure if there's a "sleeper" sub out there that isn't widely known that would be better for what i want it to do. I asked the local guy about the RE XXX ....he's never heard anything of them ...makes me kind of wonder...

there is better out there, maybe look into dd, re,fi
I was seriously considering the XXX's ......but really never heard them...so I can't make an accurate comparison to the system i have in mind now //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

for 6 Gs dont get *****. only 4awg wire.id hate to say it bc its the hot shit of the forum but think of sundown for the amps bc of warranty and customer service. personally im looking into a used mean machine 4000. but thats with no warranty. ive heard the boston pros and i liked them. you can get 2 sets on ebay for 600. the sundown 3000d and 100.4 will be around 1500 get 2 audioque hd3 or the stereo integrity mag or many others which will be under 1000 for 2 subs. thats only $3100. wiring batteries and install should not cost 3000. look around, people who work at audio shops sell. of coarse they have never hear of brands outside of their shop

OK.......i looked at the FI BL's ......and with every option i can do, with the 1-ohm setup ....TWO of these babies won't even be higher in price than ONE w7 ....and from the specs i looked at for these, they seem to even out-perform the w7's .....except the fact that i chose the daily driver option ...these seem to be the way to go!
