Ok, i have completed a Big 3 upgrade using 0/1 AWG and im using my stock alt (120 or 150amp) in my 09 Fusion SEL. Im running 0/1 AWG from under my hood to the trunk for both + / - lines. I will not be using an isolator as i dont play my radio if the car isnt running (heard its fine if you dont use it while the car is off) It will be ran to a 2nd battery in my trunk that will be there just for some extra juice. From the trunk battery it will go to a 1farad Rockford Cap than to my amp.

My question is will the 2 below batteries be sufficient for my everyday car needs plus the stereo?

Amp - Rockford Fosgate t1500bdcp

Sub - Kicker L7 15"

Under my hood will be this battery -

Kinetik-HC1200

In my trunk will be this battery -

Kinetik-HC600

Now it appears to be sufficient, but i dont understand the amp hours stuff, but im looking for long term use of these batteries (2yrs+).

Amp-hours (AH) is the total capacity rating of the battery. Standard for all AGM batteries. Don't worry about that. The Kinetics are rated to total amp load on your system.

No prob. Noobs helping noobs = flames but I'll take my chances.

I can only speak from my knowledge of basic electrical theory, but I could forsee an issue using those differently-rated Kinetics without an isolator. Since they have different capacities, you could end up with one acting as a load on the other which could be bad.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, anyone

Here's where I'm coming from. Dug this up from a random page online:

It will definitely reduce the effective capacity of the set as a whole, perhaps not quite to the lower of the two ratings, but very close. You will also be over-dischargeing the lower capacity battery, which isn't good.

A similar argument applies to charging. Overcharging a cell will overheat it, reducing its useful life.

Lose the cap and you should be fine.
