not dead but the surrounds finally just rotted off the baskets.
these were 1997 model Fosgate Punch RFP-1812 subs running on an 1997 Crossfire CFA-402 Amp Bridged with the subs in parallel for a 4 ohms load. I have enjoyed these subs quality and sound since 1997 and when the subs detached from the baskets a week ago I hunted down what I thought would be an equivalent replacement I put 2 of the new RF P1S8-12 subs in the same 3.9CF sealed enclosure and to be honest they sound like crap compared to the original subs. I have not adjusted the gain yet or touched anything else. either need to adjust the gain or these really are crap or I need more amp or something. any help appreciated , the 1 thing that may or not mean anything was that the original subs are Built in the USA and the new ones are from China.
