Need a upgrade from RF p2's for better low bass

I apologize if this is a typical newb question but hell I'm still learning..

Now, before you all bash me for using p2's, my good friend in my unit sold them to me for 80$ because he's getting out of the army in a month or two. Not a bad deal.

They don't hit lows that well. Mid range sounds great but the lows sound empty. probably because of their frequency range. (tell me if I'm wrong, I'm still learning) Now for all the details.

I have a Hifonics 1200 watt. 1200 watts at 1 ohm. I have a ported box. 3.23 cubic feet. Separate chambers with each sub getting 1.615 cubic feet of airspace. the box is tuned to 33 hz. Only downside is this box was made with 5/8 MDF instead of 3/4. Mechman 240 amp alternator and a kinetic 1800 so the amp is getting all the power it needs. Low pass is set around 70-80 (you know hifonics the just use little tick marks so its almost a guessing game) subsonic set at around 20.

I've used American bass in the past and they sounded great but they were their entry level line. I've used JBL's, also souned great but this amp would blow those in hours.

I'm thinking about the American Bass TNT1244. The rms would match with the amp I have and their entry level sub handled lows pretty well. I just want to make sure I wont end up sacrificing the mids too much you know. I listen to mostly rap and rock so there's a lot of low bass in those genres.

your box would sound good with two 10s not 12s. Thats the main issue, not subs.

is that box too small? I have limited trunk space and I haven't been able to find someone in my area that can make a box.
if its a pre-made box you bought from some online retailer, Its most likely lying about the tuning and size. Nobody in their right minds use 5/8 mdf to build a proper box that gets loud and plays a wide range of frequencies unless its for 8 inch subs or smaller.

So yes the box is too small, you are better off with some quality 10s with the space you have. Two TNT 10s would do well in 3 cubic feet net with good amounts of port area. Just have home depot cut the wood, take it home, glue and screw. Then grab a jig saw and cut the holes. Glue on a round 6 inch pvc port and you are good to go. Get a design and cut out sheet and work from there.

Dammnnn lol. With everything I've bought to upgrade my sound who would've thought it came down to a inferior box haha. Guess that's why I'm still learning. Truth be told I don't need it too loud, but just decent lows and mids. Out here in central tx it's around a 1000 dollar ticket if your music is too loud.

box is 70% of the sound. You build your whole setup around how much space you are willing to give up in your vehicle if you want to get loud and sound good.

for a pair of 10s, the same box size you have, maybe slightly bigger because i'm assuming your port is pretty small.
Yeah the port is pretty small unfortunately.

2.2 cubic ft per sub for the Tnt subs tuned at 34 hertz should be fine if your in sd I can have a box built for you.
I wish I was still in SD. I joined the army 4 years ago so I'm stationed in fort hood texas right now. Two more years and ill be home again.

Well I could build and ship one Same with the subs

I'm still learning so I hope you guys don't mind all the questions. I'm reading specifications for subs and I'm looking at recommended enclosure specifications. A lot of these say minimum/optimum ported box volume 1.50.. 1.75 ect. Do they mean total volume or volume per chamber? Like each sub has "x" about of volume per chamber..

Thats the bare minimum. Most legit 12s need 2 cubic feet to 2.5 cubic feet net to perform properly. Thats for each sub so two 12s usually needs 4 cubic feet to 5 cubic feet. Now NET cubic feet means all the space left over after subtracting how thick the wood is, along with how much space the port and subwoofers take up.
