What exactly happened?

The whole surround detached from the main cone of the sub causing the voice coil to get out of line and rub and smoke and blow. So my question is what caused this? Was this from playing them too far below tuning frequency with too much power going to it? The other subwoofer in the box is still okay.

Its the one on the right of the box in my avatar. The one on the left is still intact

For one they are lanzar subwoofers so they arent going to take that abuse if you have been over powering and playing way below tuning.

Yes I understand that the lanzar subs are pretty low quality. I just wanted to make sure that playing too low caused the surround to separate. They were only $125 for everything and i think i got my use out of them. Now its time to upgrade to something that will take abuse...
