well im still working on my tahoe project and i have to ask 2 quick questions. i have a 240amp alternator on order and plan on doing the big 3. the 1st question i have is

1) how do i do the engine ground in a 2001 tahoe were is it?

2) will that 240amp alternator and upgraded battery, and big 3 done handle 2 sundown 1000d's and alpine 4.100 pdx or do i need a second battery? thanks for the help

i think you would be ok, just have good grounds
well im thinking bout getting a kinetic but im lazy and i dont want to do a second battery, lol plus i dont kno how so if i can escape from one that would be coo. so are u pretty sure? any other options? plus what in the hell is a batcap? my brothers girlfriends brother was tellin me about 1

its easy.. just run a big fused hot wire from the front battery to the rear battery, either ground the rear battery to the chassis or run a big ground back up to the front batt. maybe an isolator but i dont think theyre always necessary

Just below the alternator on the side of the bracket is the engine block ground. Mine even had "Ground" on it from the factory in raised lettering. Here's a pic of my truck to show how I did my big 4. Ground from battery to side of alternator bracket. Ground from battery to firewall. Factory grounding strap from firewall to engine block. Lastly of course, battery + to alternator +.

thanks man that helped alot. can u just ground ya battery anywere? or do i have to put my ground in a certain place? also what is a grounding strap? and why did u upgrade that??? can u send me some more pics on were u grounded that stuff hat would be good cause im gonna try to get it done because its gettin pretty cold outside

I have a 2003 denali with the same underhood layout as yours. I'm running a 300 amp alt, 2-34/78 optima yellows (underhood) and the big 3 done in 1/0. The second battery would probably be a little better if closer to the amps but i wanted my suv to look as close to stock as possible. Do yourself a favor and look under the hood of a diesel gm p/u you will notice that they have two batteries in factory locations. You can go to dealer and by the battery tray for a diesel for a couple of bucks and set it up and it will look very clean. The odyssey batteries are quality units and the pc1500dt offers a 4 year full replacement warranty. Im in the process of changing out my yellowtops for for the pc1500dt.
