need a ported box for 2 comp 12"s

Materials you need:

Plans (either made by you or $8 from someone else)

a 4 x 8 sheet of 3/4" MDF. $20. Make friends with the guy at home depot and he will make nice, straight cuts for you. Measure on the spot so that if he messes one up, he can just do another one.

Wood Glue - $5 for a huge bottle, enough to make 6 or 7 boxes.

Silicone Caulk - $5, also enough for several boxes

pack of 1 5/8" Drywall Screws - $3, enough for quite a few boxes

PVC Pipe *optional, only if you use round ports* - $4

total will be around $40, not including carpeting. So count on spending at least $50 on your first box.

Tools you will need are a jigsaw, drill, and some drill bits about the same size of the screw. Also, find a nice working surface and stay organized. Theres nothing more frustrating than just gluing your box together and finding out you cant find your drill. A friend that is willing to help for a few hours comes in handy, especially for the first few boards you attach together.

ok can someone get me some ported box plans that matches kicker comps 1.75 - 2.25 cu.ft
what should i make a bigger or smaller box? and how would i tune it to a frequency and what would be the best?
It depends on your listening styles. If you are a fan of rock, alternative, classical, jazz... tune low, around 30hz and have a relatively large box. If you want good, all around performance with any style, I would say 35hz would be the way to go. For all out SPL, tune 40+ like mine is (but I still get great SQ, just doesnt get too deep)

yea i like rap boomin bass kinda thing , so i should tune to 30hz and use 2 cubic feet for each woofer?
ok so now how do i go about makin the thing? (i still need plans and have no idea how to tune it to 30hz)
If you want to try to make plans yourself, this calculator will get you a good rough estimate http://www.maximacar.com/volume_calculator.htm

It wont be right on track, but close enough. Aim for a tuning of around 35, around 1.75 - 2 cu.ft. per woofer. But see what kicker recommends in box size first.

ok that calculator is nice and all but i still need info to put in it? i have no idea how long or high or wide to make it? i dont know how many ports to use or how port diamater and length???

and what kicker recommends is 1.75 - 2.25 cu.ft ported which im gonna use

ok i went to kicker.com and looked up the plans in the spec manuals but i have a question

the plans they give me says

2.25 cf, Fv = 38hz

.31 cf = port vol.

C12-BOX-VENTED-225

does this mean its tuned to 38 hz? isent that kinda high will i be clipping when i listen to deep bass music?

also it says

"power handeling:

150w with 25 hz subsonic filter set at 24 db/octave. Without subsonic filter 100W"

what is this subsonic filter there talkin about?

also the box plans they provided are only for 1 woofer, so would it be safe to actually build 2 of the boxes and just have both of them in my car with the woofers facing each other but the ports facing twords the front? (i think that would look kinda cool)

Personally I would make a single box for the both of them. It wont slide around as much and would be harder to steal. It is either up to you to figure out the dimensions (not that hard to do), or pay someone to do them for you. Also, the safest way to point the port is in the same direction as the sub. DOing otherwise could result in cancellation... or maybe not. I would just play it safe and face them both the same way.

The subsonic filter filters out frequencies lower than the setting you set it to to avoid blowing your sub from playing loud volumes below the box's tuning. However, I wouldnt worry about this so much. I have a box tuned to 45hz and am having no problems with deep bass notes.

in the kicker manual it should have a reccomended box size vented. just make 1 big box into 2. it be best that way.

say its ehh 2cu ft tuned to 34 hz. well make a 4cu ft box split her down the middle.

For a pic look at mine, that that 1 box, then mirror it . making it a 4cuft box.

There really is no hard part.

here's an example for you.

width for each side is 17.5" as you will have a divider in the middle of the box. . total for the box is 35"

height 16"

depth 20"

using 3/4" mdf board. = 2.4838 total internal volume before displacement.

just an example.

heres the plans they gave me

so what would you guys do with them? could you photoshop them to what you all were sayin then repost them plz? also if you could post the meaning of "A" and "C" ??? theres arrows that point to spots and there labeled A and C

thanks
