Need a new sub

I currently have 2 12 inch infinity reference subs in 1 cubic foot sealed boxes. They are hooked up to a single Profile AP1200 meaning they are only getting 200 rms each :/ This combination is definitely not as loud as im looking for.

My plan was to buy another Profile AP1200 and get two new subs with new ported boxes. I'd be feeding each sub about 600 watts rms. Any suggestions on good spl subs in the 100ish price range?

Hmmm... why get another Profile AP1200? That amp bridges at 4 ohms. It's rated at 600wrms @ 4 ohms bridged, but I'd wager to say it's overrated. Let's say it puts out 500wrms @ 4 ohms bridged - that's probably generous.

How much would you be paying for the 2cd Profile? Couldn't you just sell your entire current setup and start over? Get a decent monoblock amp? As for subs under 100? I'd say you're looking at Ascendant Audio Assassins. I can't really think of any good SPL subs around $100 each. Maybe used Type Rs? But, can you afford to properly power 2 12" Type Rs? One Profile AP1200 each won't do it.

I can get a Profile AP 1200 for $110. I guess I could start over completely. I was thinking that part of this set up was salvageable and I could save some money. Would it be louder to get one good sub and power it well rather than get 2 cheaper with lower power?

If you just want loud, I'd say you're better off with one sub. You can definitely get a 12" used Type R or L7 for well under $200. You could put the remainder of that $200 toward the amp. Then, sell your current setup and put that $$$ toward the amp. I say go for 1 12" L7 and look for a 800-1000wrms amp @ 1 or 2 ohms. If 1 ohm, get a dual 2 ohm VC sub. If 2 ohm, get dual 4 ohm VC sub. Check the For Sale forum. Also, check out http://www.hifisoundconnection.com, they have '04 L7s for $149.99 + shipping.

This surely doesn't mean that one sub is louder than two subs right? loud isnt ALL i want, obviously i want some sq too. All I'm saying is that I am no audiophile and listen to mainly bad radio rap with big bass lines.

One good SPL sub will be louder than 2 Infinity Refs - that's for sure. Since you say you're no audiophile and you "listen to mainly bad rap with big bass lines", I say 1 12" L7 in a 3 feet^3 ported enclosure tuned to 35hz or so on 1000wrms ftmfw. That'll blow away 2 12" Infinity Refs.

alright thanks. That info helps a lot. I'll work on selling my stuff. Any tips on the best place to sell it/ for the most money? I think people on these forumns are too knowledgable to buy my mediocre equipment. How much can I expect to get for the amp, subs, and boxes?
